135i - Why such nice brakes?

I was at the dealer a couple days ago, and they had a sparkling graphite 135 coupe in the showroom, and it had BEAUTIFUL brakes. big...and painted almost the color of the car and it said BMW in it...is this factory? Why does the 135 have nicer looking brakes than a 335 or even an M3/M5/M6 (from the looks of it - obviously not the performance). ? ?

because they want you guys to buy 1 series. 1 series cost less to produce. it look like fuel saver. However, it is not the case.

there's nothing "sucker" about it...have you driven one? I love the driving experience more than the 335i, but the looks and close price turned me off.

They know that shiny, sparkly things attract the feeble minded, particularly youths.

Yes I drove 135I and 128i Convertible. I drove the damn car before it announced to the Northern America. The car was delivered to my BMW training facility where i was trained for my BMW Certification as a Technician. BOTH car handling excellent. However, i did not like neither cause it is too damn small for me personnally. It is not good for long traveling trip. I even Work on them too..

ummm it's quality..the m sport wheel i have had in my car for 12 months i LOVE!! the brakes are eye candy that work!!! plus the kit makes the car look better...so yeah good looking cars tend to sell!!!

the reason why they couldn't find a way to do it on the 3er is that bmw's accountants and engineers couldn't find the $$$ for it!! i mean just sit in the 335 and sit in a 135 there is more going on inside and out in the 3er enough to save a few grand for bmw.

and laca335i the interior specs are damn near identical..you actually have more shoulder room in the rear of the 1.. the front leg room in .6" shorter than the 3 and 1.7" shorter legroom in the rear..they are so close..but the exterior is much smaller. you must be loving in&out burgers animal style too much..i know your guilty come on admit it!!! lol

they sure look nice, but bmw decides what to put on their cars.
in US people go by the size, midsize in europe is the size of civic here.
the euro accord is much smaller than the us accord.
to make people buy the 1 series they give all these show pieces.
and the fact is the 135 is overpowered the 128 is well balanced for its size.

While they do look much better than the single pistons that are on the 3er, the recent edmunds test proved that they don't stop any better. They might fade less but given the M3 is still running single pistons, I'd guess BMW think they're up to snuff.

im glad the brakes work... but not only have i not heard of them performing over the 335is's brakes, since they are smaller and they stop the 135i as fast as the 335i or just a bit shy?

Ya...much like the article posted a couple days ago about the m3 vs 335i (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138190) it says.

"BMW claims that ceramic rotors remain unsuitable for street cars, a fact that is hard to defend in light of the outstanding ceramic stoppers used for years now by Porsche, Ferrari, Bentley and many others"

335i in the said test has the sport package. the video and photos are the evidence. the spec sheet is completely wrong. This has been discussed in another thread.

Anyway, 135i is a great performer. 335i provides more luxury and comfort. Each has the merits.

Not only are the brakes so pretty to look at, have you seen the squirrel cage with hamsters running around under the hood?

i love the one but would i buy one. no.
i thought that maybe i would when it first came out but i feel that it would be a down grade from a three series and i dont like the looks even though they say it drives better than the 335.

you know some companies use different cars for a photo day and a TEST day..

so the price of the car, tire specs and potion list in both the article and the spec sheet is wrong?

because 1 series needs something special to justify its market. in this case, BMW wants it to be sportier and perform better than the 3 series.

BMW needs to cover all of their calipers period. Porsche, Audi, BMW, and Infiniti do this, so why can't BMW?
