What is Your Grail Watch?

So I've seen lots of awesome watches around here, and obviously some are financially better off than others. Would like to know what your respective grail watches are... one's grail may be another's daily beater!

Mine is the IWC Portuguese Minute Repeater in platinum. Simple, but with one of the coolest complications, IMO:

I've always been fascinated by repeaters, and I love the Portuguese simple design. Hoping to get the 8-day manual some day down the road, but the minute repeater...

I've been on a spree in the last two years. Picked up a BLNR, Speedy Pro, and Planet Ocean. Next on my list is the new Daytona, but I will likely get a SD4K first.

Grail? Don't think I have one. Gotta catch 'em all!

Platinum repeater watch...yeah that's a treat no matter who the manufacturer is.

Last week at the store saw the lowly IWC Portofino automatic in stainless steel with the Milanese Mesh Bracelet. I guess that's my grail watch or a 'Pepsi Can' Rolex.

That is a great Grail piece for sure. Love IWC (currently have Big Pilot).

Lange was my Grail for a long time. Was fortunate enough to acquire it a couple of years ago.

I just ordered this for a milestone coming up in June. Hopefully it will arrive in time for the BIG Five O.

Stunning and the minute repeater complication, boy do the brands know how to charge for those! Which proves to me no matter how much money I had I'd always end up broke.

Lovely thing that though.

Ollech & Wajs Mirage - the old style. The new Mirage III, like the Sinn 103, looks great also, but something about the old one just looks classy as hell...

A Double Red Seadweller from 1970(year I was born) with b&p would be nice

Or a Bao Dai

But my real holy grailwatch would be something like this:

Cheers

Love PAMs! I have a 320 that I don't get to wear all that often, but I'd really like to get my hands on a used 210 to have both a Luminor and Radiomir in the collection. I just love the base Radiomir's simplicity. I'm finding that I've started to prefer less cluttered watches as I get older.

Thanks for sharing!

Funny that you mentioned Radiomir, I love my Radiomir. It's really a beauty

Classic no-date Submariner is probably the only really expensive watch I've ever considered. I'm also partial to the blue on silver versions, but no interest in white gold (or a $30K price tag), so might look for a modded stainless steel one.

Great watch, you can never go wrong with a speedmaster!

A good watch doesn't have to cost an arm and leg. A lot of people associate "grail watch" with an expensive piece. Just because something costs a lot doesn't mean you like it.

Agreed. I've found some gems made by "micro brands" that are really a steal and have the quality and detail of higher priced brands.

I'm just starting to get the bug, and would welcome your inputs on those. I love the mechanical details and artistry, but have neither the money nor the desire to impress with the fancy brands.

So, caveat- taste varies and this is just my opinion...

Le Bois & Co. has some nice stuff. Good movements and nice design. They matched the numbers for me on two of their watches. Detail is very good for the price and the straps are well done.

Prometheus has cool dive watches. They are big, similar in size to my Avenger Seawolf. ETA movement, nice bracelet. Many variations and a rather unique limited run. 350atm rating, because I dive that deep.

Ventus has minimal price automatic watches. Seiko movements. Some very unique designs. They are big on the sandwich dial. I ended up getting all 3. The Black Kite is well done. Quality is good (for the price). The straps are really bad, however. That's easy to change.

There are a ton more. Check out Worn&Wound and ablogtowatch.
