ZR-1 top speed officially set at 205 mph
In testing they saw a max of 208 in one direction and 203 in the other, so they have to take the average which is 205 mph...officially.
And that was with 2 people in the car, testing gear, and roll cage. Wonder what it would do without the extra est. 180-200 lbs from the passenger and gear? Maybe 206-207 officially?? What a beast. Has nearly the power to weight ratio of the Enzo Ferrari. And the Enzo would trap at like 132 mph in the 1/4 mile. I said months ago I suspect a low 11's @ around 130 mph 1/4 mile out of that car. Impressive car. But $100k for a Corvette and with mark ups for the first year or two, you'd have to expect to pay $130K+ the first year and probably $110k even in year two to get one. |

Top speed is all about power and aero, nothing to do with weight.

seeing as how anything else that goes 200+ mph costs 2-3X as much, this car's a bargain. Can wait to see Top Gear test it.

+1...removing another 180-200lbs will not increase top speed - it will only allow the Vette to reach that top speed quicker.

I don't know where these "physics" of "weight doesn't affect top speed" comes from....but You take a 100 horsepower car that weighs 2000 lbs and see what it's top speed is with a small 140 lbs driver at the wheel. Then load it up with 4 football players weighing 300 lbs each and tell me that car is going to hit the same top speed around the same track (or even on an open road. I don't buy it. |

Look at the Ferrari F430 versus the Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Both have a top speed of 196 mph and similar power outputs but the Ferrari's power to weight ratio is MUCH higher than the Bentley's. Top speed is all about aero and power.

So , if it has the same power to weight ratio as the Enzo, it must have much different hearing because the Enzo does like 215-220 MPH I think |

Now if we were talking about a Mustang, then you'd be right...but come on, ZR1 is a different league. Any self respecting true car guy can accept the fact that this vette is an amazingly engineering car (and for the value, simply incredible).

Wait just a second. You say 'Vette owners have gold chains. Yet, you have bought an Escalade. The ultimate gold chain wearing vehicle with gold teeth to boot! Got to love the Cadillac Tahoe.
