Rolex Datejust 2 help

I am looking to buy a new Datejust 2. The MSRP is $7,150.
So far I have one AD doing $6,450 - what would be a good selling price for this watch?

Do you guys recommend any AD's in NJ/NY.

this is the one I am looking at.

A quick search on my favourite site Jomashop yields an 18% discount. Here's a link

Thank you for that. The only thing is, I'm hung up on the idea of buying from an Authorized Dealer.

Doesn't Rolex have a boutique on 5 th avenue ?

Smart to go to authorized retailer.

That's a great looking datejust, just make sure you've spent enough time confirming you want a blue face. Not insinuating you might be making a mistake, like I would know better, but check it out on your wrist first.

Would you trust to go to a Jewelry Store that is a Authorized Dealer?

Yes, of course. Some really great jewelry stores with incredibly knowledgeable people. And easier to get a discount there then at a boutique.

But I also think the MSRP you listed and the discount you have as an example may not be great enough to sway against the merits of buying at their boutique.

The boutique can sometimes be a better place to compare sizes and bracelets.
And I have found some nice little amenities to using the brands boutique.

You can go to TIMEZONE.com and ask what the boutique preferences are.

I'm a big IWC person. As widely espoused on, Rolex and Patek are kind of in a class of their own - and in some regards the boutique experience can just take the purchase over the top.

But, convenience and reputation and selection if found locally then an AD may be better. Just make sure whichever watch you purchase - make sure it's in an unopened clear plastic wrap with untouched clear plastic protectors on the face crystal/sapphire and case back.

There is so much advice to give, but in the end don't over think it and enjoy the purchase and when you scratch the case think "patina".

Jomasshop will have better pricing than an AD and carry a 2yr warranty.

Problem with ADs are they have certain pricing they have to be within per Rolex, so you wont be able to get a smoking deal.

If its worth the $1k more to be able to walk into a store and walk out with it, then go AD, if its not, go Jomasshop or look through the rolex forums and watchuseek to see if anyone is selling one. Used you'll get another $1k + off

Just a quick question. When I put it right up to my hear, I hear a fast ticking noise. It is a very quite sound and only audible when I put the dial very very close to my hear. Should I be concerned?

or am I paranoid?

You paid $6000 to have that noise. That is 600 years of horological perfection miniaturized to fit on your wrist and for your particular watch to last for centuries.

Rolex watches are the quietest ones I have ever seen .All other watches including one of them so called Holy Trinity making more noises . I have handled grabbed and put on my wrist and others have been making noise but honestly those are music to my ears .
You can also hear rotor wobbling but in a Rolex watch I can't hear that but only a tick when I put it on my ears .
28800 vph is very smooth too

Nice looking Rolex OP. I'm considering adding the silver face piece to my collection.
