They are, but Porsche seems like a good sport and a classy company. Like the time when they gave a cool message on social media after that crushing loss at Le Mans when Toyota suffered a mechanical failure in the last lap to give Porsche the upset win. It read:

They also jokingly trolled Honda while they were developing the NSX. Honda had bought a GT3 to benchmark the NSX against. I don't know how they found this out, but they managed to find out the exact car Honda had bought. When that particular GT3 came in for service, there was a note in the engine bay that read something to the effect of "Good luck with everything, from Porsche. See you on the other side".

Umm, they're the both divisions of Volkswagen so I think this is just a sop to the racing fans. It doesn't make sense for Volkswagen to support two competing efforts.

Yep, that is what I was thinking as well. Might as well pick their fights without spending money in the same place.
