Dog food

So my wife returns from the pet store with a bag of dog food and a small bag of those green chewy toothbrushes and a couple other snacks. The bill: $178 there's got to be a better way.

Yeah pet food especially if you want to buy quality stuff for your pets has become pretty expensive!

Garage List
2010 135i Coupe  [5.26]
I buy all my dogs food from chewy. She only eats like 1-2 cups a day so a pair of 12-15lb bags lasts me a couple of months. I always have two distinct flavors on hand to mix it up a bit and I rotate through brands and flavors with each order to keep her diet varied.

OP - How big is your dog?

I have stopped looking at those receipts, helps me stay calm and at peace. $178 is a lot still, unless grooming was on that bill as well?

Well, my wife came home from the vet (cardiologist) yesterday with a $680 bill for visit + 90 days of pills for 2 dogs.

Our dogs have food allergies. We can only feed them food made from Rabbit and Potato. Around $35 for 8 lb. bag. Fortunately, dogs are small.

Perspective.

My dog's monthly food bill, including treats is about the same. Works out to about $2.20 per meal with about $40 being treats.

"Prescription" cat food was killing us. 24 cans (tuna can sized) was about $78 and a 10lb bag of dry was about the same. Luckily we figured out a way to go back to regular food and still control the problems. But yeah, pets are expensive. And we have, ahem...several cats who will all be into old age about the time I retire. Not looking forward to that.

I told Wifey no more cats once these guys are gone. When I retire I want to be able to disappear for a month at a time without having to worry about who's taking care of the cats.

My dog has been diagnosed with Inflamed Bowel Syndrome and another lymphatic disorder. He can only eat Kangaroo meat food now, last months vet bill with some other dental work was about $6000. I could have got the Zed blown for that......I was talking about a supercharger by the way.

I try to feed mine blended chicken hearts/gizzards, beef liver with veggies or Pollock. Cheaper than dog food and healthier. I have a bag of Orijen Original Grain-Free Dry Dog Food for when I'm too lazy to cook. 25lb bag for $79. which is ok for really good dog food. $178 for 1 dog is just crazy.

I swear to god I'm not shitting you but Kissa, my gs had epic diarrhea if she ate wheat, corn, potato, anything bone related or food or well... Food related. No allergies, but things kept getting worse and worse.

The cure was me walking in a forest used by riders. Horse shit and apparently rabbit shit works wonders and i have mastered the skill of not watching in the last year.

Her favorite dog food, the only one she eats (her choice) is the shittiest in the market. Chicken and rice. I supplement with some weird fish oil extract.

Great Dane here. Chewy.com works very well.

Although, he typically eats liberals so have not bought food since election. He loves the protests.

Are you anywhere near Miami? If so, could you take him by my brother-in-law and partner's house?

I buy Orijen as well. Good stuff but as you might imagine, it's a bit more expensive to get in FL.

Plus an active 110 dog eats a lot.

Good job with the head turning. I couldn't watch either.

Pick cheaper food. I go to co-op and have bull mastiff and great dane. Not that bad despite the 10 plus cups a day

I'll throw in another recommendation for Chewy.com. Very fast shipping and they react quickly to changes in your order.

Add those 10 cups to the amount of food you probably inhale each day to keep up your figure and it'd be cheaper for you wife to just leave...
