Show me your garages!!!!!

Hey Everybody,

I am building a house and having a heck of a time figuring out how to configure my garage, how to finish the floor etc...

How about posting some photos of your "jewelery boxes" to inspire me???

Thanks!!!

Wow, hey Awesome M3, that is a great project! Is that an epoxy floor paint that you used? And what is that interesting looking pad you have in the far bay? Also, those tire pads, where are they from?

In New Jersey I know you get lots of snow, does that flooring clean up well?

And your cabinetry, is that from a kitchen, and you just bought a new countertop?

Stew, I used Rust-Oleum Epoxy Shield (purchased from Home Depot). It was very easy to apply, as long as the concrete floor is cleaned the proper way (the cleaning was the most time consuming part). The pad is called Car Pad, and it is great for containing run-off rain water from cars as well as melting snow. The water can easily be sucked up by a wet vac. The tire pads I used were sheets of polycarbonite plastic, but I no longer use them. I was worried that the heat from the tires would peel the paint, but the epoxy paint is so durable, it's not an issue. The floor cleans up easily from dirt, oil, etc. I bought the cabinets and countertop from Home Depot (kitchen department), and those were the most expensive part of the project.

Goodluck with your project, and be sure to post pics when you're done!

Hey Awesome, thanks for the info.

I think then that the epoxy is how I will go. I was leaning that way, and to hear how it cleans up from snow etc engourages me.

I may consider one of those pads also, we drive a lot and it seems worth it to preserve the nice floor...

Thanks again!

Your welcome...

The epoxy paint holds up very well and doesn't peel, so I would definitely recommend it. The Car Pad is a great investment also. It keeps the garage floor clean and dry from the rain and melted snow.

Good luck with the project!

You're right, those recessed incandescent lights make for a warm and relaxing effect.

I have the costco garage tiles, which are made by the same company that makes the tiles for Race Deck. They are every so slightly thinner, but I'm happy with mine. I can't find pics of the tiles installed (will post when I find them). I have four storage cabinets made by Doable products (similar, but bigger, to http://www.closetmaid.com/Look/Produ...roduct_id=1159)...
I'm totally into my garage and I posted a similar thread a few months ago. I'll be installing my lift soon and will take tons of pics.
Here's my garage and tiles in boxes .

They had a similar thread on M5Board last year. I will try and dig it up, some of the members there had stellar garages...

One of the 3 garage bays extends forward into the basement, essentially creating a heated 4th garage bay, perfect for the home mechanic, or for babying that classic car during the winter months.

Currently, it's filled with junk, but will someday be a home workshop.

We had to pull half the carpet because of a recent flood in the basement.

However, whole finished basement will now be re-finished, to our liking.

Google GarageMahals for some super cool ideas.

They will design, then subcontract locally. They start at $60/SF.

Thanks, Gary and Neurorad!

Gary, you have a TON of space, wow, that is awesome.....I will have 22 feet wide by 24 feet long, so some economy will be necessary...My basement (sadly not on the same level, like Neurorad) will have a ton of room, so I can keep a lot of little used things there.

I will post pics as things develop!
