GT2 vs Z06
While looking Autocar's video section I found this and thought you Americans would be interested in their findings.
http://www.autocar.co.uk/VideosWallp...AR=231915&CT=V P.S. Not pretty for you Z06 lovers. |

Half the price? I think it does pretty damn well for half the price. Lets see how it compares to the ZR1 though.
Hell, for a fraction of the price my Cobra will run almost as fast as the Z06. Give me another $2k for mods and I'm still a fraction of the price and I'll run faster than the Z06. Seems like a bit of a silly comparison. There is always a faster car out there if you're willing to shell out the money. |

Yeah - this is a great comparison
- $72k versus $192k... - Goodyear runflats (in the cold) versus Michelin Pilot Sport Cups... - Driver that doesn't know how to shift... My Z06 has never made noise shifting to second and I don't miss third Show me a GT2 versus ZR1 comparison and I'll be interested

I have the same transmission (T56) in my Cobra, and I never grind against the syncros. Sure, my 97 GT's crappy T45 I can outshift the syncros, but not the T56. If he was grinding he either doesn't know how to push the clutch down, or he got a car that had already been beat on by someone that doesn't know how to drive. |

Don't diss Chris Harris's driving skills. He's a damn good driver, and a superb editor at that. He deserves a spot on Top Gear if I do say so myself. Fifth Gear even, whatever.
There was no competition whatsoever. The GT2 easily outpowered the Z06 in every single trial. Amazing. Still, the Z06 is an amazing bargain.

ZR1 in action for those who haven't seen it:
I have no doubt that the ZR1 will be more than a match for the new GT2 - at nearly half the cost... Who knows - it might even be able to best the Carrera GT's 7:28 ring time

Wow, I didn't expect the GT2 to be that much faster. They let the Z06 get a jump off the line, and the GT2 caught up by the top of second, and started putting lengths on it by the top of 3rd :-O
As for Chris Harris's skill, he's actually quite a good driver, if you look at some of his other videos. He's head and shoulders above most automotive journalists. I think that Z06 needed a new tranny. I does use the T56, and not the new T6060, right? I NEVER had problems with 2nd in Cobra, even absolutely HAMMERING it with flat footed shifts. Third, in all fairness, could be a little vague sometimes. |

Yeah, I'm 99% sure the C6 Z06s have the T56. I know the C5s do and I think the C6s do as well. I won't say he's a good driver or bad, I just said either he is a bad driver or he needs a new transmission, the transmission is very possibly it. Two (or three of us? I'm not sure if you're saying you have/used to have an 03/04 also) have experience with a T56 and know it's a damn good transmission.
Regardless, the Z06 isn't going to win that race, but I'd like to see what the ZR1 would do to it. And I dare say it'll do it while looking a whole lot better too. The ZR1 is quite possibly one of the most beautiful cars ever built. |

I believe the 2008 Z06's have switched over to the TR6060 - but don't quote me on that...

I could see the tranny on a test car going wonky after getting beat on too hard. Mis-shifts maybe? Either way, it didn't seem to slow his shifts too much, and the GT2 obviously ran away in gear. The ZR1 should be a better match. |

A 10s 0-100mph is surely very poor for a Z06, we have seen an M6 getting wasted by one in M5Board videos. I think there were other issues with this particular car.
I only posted the video because I thought some here might be interested, that's all. |

I'd rather have a GTR or a GT2 over that. I think the ZR-1 looks too...I don't even know...it just looks like they've modded the C6 design beyond what I think they should have done. The plastic hood thing is so tacky. The side gills are also meh.

I wanted to do some curvy track stuff, and really couldn't justify using the Cobra as a DD along side another car tailored for track use, so I sold it. I'll definitely be picking another one up at some point in the hopefully not so distant future. It was one of the best cars I've owned, without a doubt. |

Though based on the test MT just did, it looks like the GT2 may be CGT/Zonda R fast, or better. |
