Lightbulb Stranger Things!

OK guys... Listen up. I just finished binge watching this original Netflix series (8 episodes) and trust me when I say this... You WANT to watch this now! OMG!!!

Where do I begin... Well first of all, it is superbly entertaining! It is in the vein of Stephen King and the X Files. It is set entirely in the 80's (which was my decade LOL!) And the acting, story line, music, action, just everything is excellent. Watch the trailers below and thank me later.

Oh and a added bonus... Your girl/wife will like this show too. My wife is NOT a fan of SciFi at all but she watched all episodes and really enjoyed it.

Interesting! I'm on board. I need something new to watch anyways.

I recently watched Making a Murderer with my wife and found that series to be incredibly boring in spite of it receiving critical acclaim.

Saw this but been watching The Night Of on HBO. Will have to check it out on Netflix.

The night of reminds me of Serial podcast. Pretty interesting perspective on all aspects (lawyers, justice system, prison, etc.).

I've been watching this with my girlfriend, it's amazing. I like sci-fi and she likes horror and it's a great mix. The show lives up to the hype so far, we're only on episode, er chapter, 5.

Stranger things is great! The night of keeps getting better! I am wondering if for Stranger Things they are going to go the route of using the same actors/actresses and a different story for the second season. Recently watched Rebirth(netflix original), still can't decide if I liked that one. Just kind of leaves you with a....annoyed feeling.

How about that unmistakable "80s heavy synthesized beat" in the intro.
Even the font and lettering are very 80s. Props to the directors and producers for attention to detail.

@TXSTYLE - question for you or others....

What are your thought on the Netflix version of the Marvel based shows?

Bruh... on season two of Agents of SHIELD. Not an old school comics guy, but the writing is great and the acting is very good too. Irreverent and funny. Jessica Jones is good in another whole way - dark and gritty, but funny. Daredevil... eh... not so much. Haven't started the others yet.

Daredevil is superb! Season 2 especially so with the addition of Punisher and Electra.
I have heard Jessica Jones is outstanding but haven't watched yet.

I've watched DD (Both seasons) and Jessica Jones.

DD was a bit predictable in season 2.

Jessica Jones is my new obsession however!

Overall - I think Netflix can take some liberties with their characters that ABC and even some of the movies can't.

Looking forward to Iron Fist and Luke Cage too.

Next season for Agents of Shield - Ghost Rider!!

Watched 4 episodes of Stranger Things last night. I liked it.

Jessica Jones got annoying/boring after the 5th episode. The same story over and over. It had potential but it declined after a few episodes.

Just found this thread. Huge fan of this show. It draws from so many 80s classics and just works. It really captures the feel of the time.

Besides Spielberg and King, I saw a lot of influence from Akira and another more recent show that I won't name, kind of spoils the plot.

The Night Of is great, but this kid is a moron. I spend half of each episode shouting at the TV.

Binge watched Season 1 and it was okay. I grew impatient at times and the tubby kid is annoying. Will watch Season 2, though.

Made it through 2 episodes of Daredevil. It was highly recommended by some folks at work who know of my martial arts background and love of martial arts and action shows/movies. I usually try to give shows 2-3 episodes since something are slow to start or get into (GoT was that way) but....wasn't feeling it. Jessica Jones wasn't something I was able to get into either...despite being several episodes deep. Might give both another try, but still undecided.

Loved Stranger Things. Anyone hear anything about a 2nd season? Agree with whoever said The Night Of was great. Excellent show. Got sick of JJ after 5-6 episodes. Never went anywhere and each episode seemed just like the one before it. I hear they are working on a 2nd season of making a murderer too. That should be good.

I wonder about Stranger Things season 2 as well. The kid (Will) seems to have lasting effects from his time in the other world.
