Lets take this Friday to just ignore the fact that the China-only BMW 1-Series Sedan is FWD. Lets just celebrate the awesomeness of the idea of a small BMW M sedan.

So many of us have been dreaming of such a car for way too many years now. Cheers to you X-Tomi for letting us dream a little more vividly.

10/10ths . . . would buy. . . only if it were xDrive though. The thought of a FWD M car kills me

Can't celebrate cause it's FWD. Make this version RWD then I'll bring out the champagne.

Tell you what they make it x drive Id consider it. If they announce it later today it's official in RWD I'll make my way over to my dealer and put down a deposit, barring it looks as good as that render.

We're all wishing for a 4 door M2, if we keep asking and bitching it'll come! BMW isn't stupid they know how popular the entry level M2 is, don't think someone in their division isn't sitting there right now trying to figure out how to pump out more of them, or surveying the field for a 4 door version and the demand for it...

It would be nice if people STOPPED freaking out about the fwd that Europe and Asia will only see.

The U.S. will only see the 130i and 140i rwd if it does come to the U.S. just like the previous generation 1 series.

I would not lose my time rendering such a car... And to name it M1? Come on, this name is reserved for a Supercar, not a FWD sedan!

Here's the problem with this car. BMW will feel the need to stretch the wheelbase to accommodate the US Market [fat asses], thereby increasing the size and weight of the 2 series in general [see coupe as well] and pretty soon we have another large pig to drive.
Please BMW, just leave it alone

I'm wondering if any M2 owners would do a headlight conversion because that looks pretty sweet.

The M division will make it look much closer to the concept.

If this saloon/sedan makes it past China I reckon there will almost certainly be an M performance version. BMW appears to be adopting this more as new versions come out.

Would have to be x drive, most competitors are 4wd. This render is really good and I hope they take some inspiration from it.

As for the M1 moniker ... why not reuse it? (Yes I'm goading you BMW). It's not like anyone on the board of BMW is ever going to permit/make another supercar... That's made very clear to us members on this forum who almost unilaterally ask for one and we're told it won't happen... Stop pretending to us that it'll mean something again

It won't be sold in North America, FWD ///M cars is not a real ///M car. Also they should keep the manual transmissions alive & running

I don't see why. I mean if it's fwd bias and M decides do so something with it say 4 cylinder 325hp.

You'd still have your cake and eat it too.

I.e.
M2
M3
M4
M5 (AWD optional perhaps in the future)

Plenty of meat on the BMW bone man take a bite and stay with us and live longer

Sorry, but I prefer the m2 GC renders in that thread. A little bit more curvaceous (sp?!)

An M35i xDrive will be introduced to the Chinese market in due course.
