Wow, that would be something, especially if they only broadcast it in the US on Apple TV.

Completely counter to everything Apple stands for .. F1 is supposed to be about cutting edge technology and pushing components to their performance edge. Apple's business model is built on the opposite viewpoint. Nothing cutting edge about Apple tech, nothing particularly high performance, and incremental improvement punctuated by occasional visionary implementation of someone else's idea.
As well, can you see F1 sponsors paying Apple 30% commissions? |

I have banned everything apple in our house, how anyone works with their shite ecosystem is utterly beyond me. It's such a massive, massive PITA to manage your data with apple.

Apple haters abound lol. To be fair, they were plenty innovative when Jobs was around, and still have great API's for devs. iCloud drives me crazy too, refuse to use it
Future of the entertainment biz is in content rights. With all the cash they have ($160b+ net...) and revamped tvOS, music ventures, etc... they'll probably be buying a lot of IP going forward. Makes sense to be snatching content with international appeal too, stuff that plays well in China and India will earn some good coin

Perhaps they're buying the broadcast rights and not F1 itself? Or possibly a ploy to keep all of us guessing.... |

I love my iphone but don't use any other Apple products. It's so easy and seemless that my parents use them too and they are retired seniors.
No need to stay in their "ecosystem", I just use the parts I like.

It's funny people don't think Apple is innovative. How many I/Os have they retired and replaced with better ones. They made Retina (high resolution) screens extremely every day. Touch ID (bio finger print scanning); they did right and every one else followed after failing for years. How about the design of the modern laptop that almost every company copies. Many copies of their iPhones. SSDs and PCIe. And the biggest one of all in my mind, which no one ever talks about. Is their design process and architecture of their boards and chips. People don't know because you have to dig deep but the things they have done over the last few years with their mobile CPUs and the like are just amazing. Yes they buy all these parts from other companies but it's the specs they are built to and how they are implemented. How does an iPhone have faster benchmarks with half the cpu power and the same battery life with near half the mAhs? Efficiency.
I like Android & Sammy too incase you were wondering. They do great things. Why do people have to pick sides, just give credit when it's due. |

I was giving credit where it's due. Apple is innovative in envisioning how people may use devices and establishing a market for those needs. However, Apple isn't on the cutting edge of technology and they are not performance oriented. My comment was about that being a fit with F1.
It wasn't Apple bashing. I get why people buy their products and why they're successful. That doesn't mean that you can't get better performance, better tech, and a better product from their competitors. |

But why? You can license content you know without buying F1. Hell, pay premium even to get exclusive rights.
Even if Apple is interested in making cars, why would they own F1? They're very unlikely to make a gasoline car and even if they did why do they need to own F1? Did Toyota or any car manufacturer felt compelled to own F1 so that they can compete? This sounds like a baseless rumor. |

Not like F1 is really cutting edge either. They have so many rules to keep speed down and try to create passing that it certainly isn't the fastest product they could put forward. Not that that would be more entertaining. Just saying cutting edge and innovative aren't exactly F1 strengths.

Rumors. Will believe it when i see it. Then again, Eddy Cue is on the board of directors with Ferrari I believe, so he can have something to do with it also.
And I swear, 95% of this thread has nothing to do with the topic on hand. The word Apple comes up and people love to go on a bitchy little tirade about their products for no reason. I can be talking about Motts and people will lose their freakin minds. Last edited by danniexi; 07-14-2016 at 05:27 PM.. |

Yeah Eddy Cue is on the board of Ferrari, but that still doesn't make much sense for Apple as a devices company to acquire F1. |

I also think this is a rumor trying to link a company that has a lot of money with another that is selling.

Let's not forget 'Project Titan'. With Apple committed to developing some sort of electric vehicle, one would assume ownership of the F1 series and the relationships it brings would help to accelerate the project.
