Hyundai is making great strides in quality. I'm all for it to be honest. I just want the copying to end. Lexus is finally making unique products (for the most part; still copied the shark fin and LED bars). Hyundai is sorta not really there when it comes to making unique products. Actually, they're sometimes shamefully similar. Still, this is a great low-cost alternative to those that can't buy a Euro-lux car.
In the end it's the consumers that are reaping the benefits.

Hyundai has always been about getting you a product that is "similar" to higher end cars for a decent price. THe VW Phaeton was kind of a fish out of water. It should have been an Audi, and it basically was about stealing A6/A8 sales.

I don't think you guys understand my msg. If there's any competition for immitation, Hyundai would win. I don't see people mentioning the Hofmeister kink copy and even idrive

Except the Phaeton was a genuinely kickass car and utterly amazing in all regards. The Hyundai is an inferior imitation of the higher end cars.

Why Buy Mercedes, BMW or Lexus? Good question...
They are all getting out of the price range for the normal buyer (the shitty value of the US dollar it's helping that either) and all 3 have been just living off of their reputations for years now. Lots of car makers are closing the gap and making very good cars that drive well, are well made and get good gas mileage. Why spend 40K plus for a BMW when you can spend 25K on a Malibu that's a nice car and put 15K in your pocket. Please don't give me the lame "driving experience" excuse either, a BMW isn't worth 15K more between a new Malibu, Accord, etc just because of the "driving experience" or the level of interior for that matter.
