Auto Insurance
Well the time has come after too many years that I may desire a change in auto insurance. With a clean bill of sale and varied coverages on my cars, the rates just continue to go up. Without lowering my coverages, I want to see what other companies could do. My yearly renewal came today and I fell out of my chair- again no claims, accidents, or tickets....apart from a couple of windshields.
Considerations: Progressive State Farm Nationwide Farmers Geico Anyone valuable feedback welcomed. TIA!

I'd recommend checking out USAA if you are eligible.

I switched from Allstate to Liberty Mutual last year. They lock rates for a year, not six months and haven't gotten to the renewal date yet. I thought claim service from Progressive and Geico wasn't very good and surprisingly thought Allstate service all around was bad. I had issues with their web site and they made me take my new car to local agent to prove it was a new car when I added it to the policy, which I found ridiculous.

After years of Statefarm they finally ran my driving record through Lexus Nexus and found my two speeding tickets. Rates went way up so I went looking for new insurance. Checked a few and the rate was lower but stumbled upon Esurance which also ran my driving record. Fortunately they didnt find anything which was surprising since they stated they use Lexus Nexus also. Rates are just about half of what they would have been.

USAA has gone downhill and its rates aren't even competitive anymore because everyone and their mother are somehow eligible. The contracting out mentality is screwing over its members. All may seem to be going very well but once you make a claim, good luck. I know this not the case for everyone, but a few of my colleagues who have USAA and made auto claims are still going through the process months after the accident.
I switched out of USAA and into Allstate and I can say that a small increase in premiums justified the handling of my claims process. As far as banking goes, it's all the same really...Navy Federal / USAA...etc. |

What are you mofos paying anyway?
As an aussie in Canada i am astounded at the cost of auto insurance, it's preposterous. We are paying $3,200 for a 2008 9-3 and a 2012 X1. No accidents or tickets. |

I've used Geico and Progressive, always through online services, not with an agent. They've had the best rates for me.
No claims and clean driving record, but make sure to verify anything they say they find. I've had incidents with the same name show up in my background checks. Progressive snapshot is a waste. It was fun for a month to look at the data, but unless you're nocturnal and have a 2 mile commute, it won't reduce your rates. It's overpriced. Those are all my car insurance thoughts. |

Here in BC, because basic auto must be purchased from the government insurer (ICBC), auto insurance also pays for our driver and vehicle licensing system, as well as certain road improvements, Counter-Attack, etc. Even with that, my wife and I are paying less than you are for her 2010 A3 and my 2016 M235i and I do have an at fault accident from 2012 on my record. |

Esurance is Allstate. Allstate covered repairs take a long time. The agent has to approve all supplements. In auto coverage your agent determines how your car gets fixed. I would be really good to your agent. It's sad, but if they dislike you or your attitude they can limit the extent of repair. Be nice to your agent.

http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...insurance.aspx Might not be that much of a big deal to some, but in the event of mishap, it is useful. They've also been very honest and helpful the entire time.

I'll never have State Farm as they banned any agent from writing insurance at my parents address when we had 7 cars and 2 male drivers under 19 (No Accidents). They were absolute asshats about the whole situation. |
