Ferrari to sue over 360 Limo!

Ferrari tuning, some see it as blasphemous while some argue that everything, including prancing pony super cars, can be improved upon. Most tuning companies draw the line at new rims, over-sized rear spoilers and carbon-fibre body kits, but sometimes you come across more extremely 'tuned' cars.

One of these extreme cars is the stretched 2000 Ferrari 360 which seats 8 people and is now on sale on eBay for GBP 150,000 (Euro 195,000). This is not a collectors item, this is a business all on its own and comes with two website URL's and will cost customers GBP 700 an hour to rent. The eight carbon fibre sport seats can be accessed through two huge electric gullwing doors.

Ferrari headquarters however are not amused by this unique Ferrari and sent out their lawyers to ask Dan Cawley, the current owner, to remove all Ferrari and 360 Modena badges from the car. Reasoning behind it is that the 6 meter long limo is no longer an actual Ferrari and that he is infringing on their copyright.

Cawley asks in return via TimesOnline: “What kind of precedent does it set when you can’t do what you like with your own property?”

Then Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercedes Benz, Bentley, Lamborghini, Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Maybach, and a few other companies.......need to jump on Ferrari's wagon and start to sue everyone haha.

But seriously though, Ferrari's making itself look silly right now with this. Its his f'ing car and he can do what the hell ever he wants. Matter of fact, its kinda cool. Plus, its only a 360 modena.....probably the most unimportant and most common Ferrari anyway. Not like it was an FXX or a new 599.

I'm pretty sure if you get a buy a new ferrari, you aren't allowed to sell it for 2 years or something like that. This is sure not the first time ferrari has tried to control something you bought.

If I'm honest I think it's stupid of Ferrari to do this. Sure Ferrari isnt your regular car and Ferrari has great heritage and is right up there with the best, but this isnt fair. Who cares if someone makes a 360 Limo? It wont affect Ferrari's image in ANY way. Back down and shut up lol.

...and what about Hamaan and Notivec Rosso etc? There are a few tuners who put crazy bodykits and boy-racer rims on Ferrari's and nothing is said

Looks like something the guys at Top Gear would do.
(I'm still laughing at their recent Limos episode that aired on BBC America last month).

That is definitely kinda whack for Ferrari to sue.

Anyone know if the thing is powered by the same motor?

I can probably dig up some progress pics of the transformation. His craftsmanship is really good.

As has been said by all, it's ridiculous.

As for the car itself, I think it looks like total shit and is a bastardization of the brand and vehicle. If I saw the guy on the street I'd tell him in the severest terms possible he's a fucking moron. That being said, he can keep the badges on if he likes, provided it was originally a Ferrari and the whole car isn't custom made.

No. This was something they did with their limited edition cars including the Enzo. You weren't allowed to be put on the waiting list unless you had owned xx previous Ferraris including XXXX and XXXX (I think an F40 or F50) and when you got on the list it wasn't to buy the car, it was to get a 2 year lease directly from Ferrari on the car with a buy option at the end. During this time you had to follow certain rules, including not allowing any press to drive the car, among other things I forget. F430's and 599's are just like any other car after you buy them from the dealer.

They use 1 car to make a limo. Everything in between the front and rear is custom fab'd
