Support Our Troops Magnets / Decals?
What are your thoughts?
I have a few friends that are in the military and have always supported them. I had a magnet on my Dodge Neon, until it got stolen which didn't take long. But what do you think of having one on an E90? Not the type of car that suits it? On a pick-up or SUV I think it's on the right turf, but a 3 Series? If anything this time I'd go with the inside window decal instead of the magnet to avoid it being stolen. I just hope I don't get keyed instead! -D.J. |

I support our troops; not our Government. Massive respect to anyone who risks his/her life for freedom and equality. I'd say keep your opinions to yourself, and, magnets/stickers do not belong on any car; espeically a Bimmer.

I wonder where the magnets themselves are manufactured, and where and how much of the proceeds from the sale of these magnets actually go to 'support the troops.' Further, in the context of money from the proceeds of magnets/stickers, what does 'supporting the troops' actually mean? Whose pocket is being filled?

I still remember the situation we had here a few years back in Ottawa on July 1st (Canada Day) when those paper Canadian flags were handed out to anyone that was downtown and wanted one, but it read "Made in China" near the bottom! What a let down that was for many. You would think that Canada, with it's number one natural resource being WOOD, that maybe they can make their own paper flags here! But you know, they just had to save on labor costs.
As for the magnet I had on my Neon before, it was the American style yellow one and read "Made in USA". It was a relief knowing that it was made in North America. Actually, I wouldn't buy it if it wasn't. I too wonder if some of the proceeds from the Canadian ribbons here actually go to the armed forces, or perhaps war veterans? -D.J. |

I think this pretty much sums it up for me:
While I DO "support" or troops, I also drive a sports car with > 300hp. I wouldn't even consider rocking a yellow ribbon on such a vehicle, it is fucking retarded. If you REALLY want to support our troops, stop using OIL.

I don't really see what good putting a magnet on your car does. If you want to support the troops there are other ways in my opinion. But if you want a magnet on your car go for it!

BTW, my cousin and one of my good friends are in Iraq. I still wouldn't put a yellow ribbon on my car. Instead, when they're back on leave, I take them out and/or throw a huge BBQ and invite all our friends. That's the kind of shit that lifts their spirits and keep them motivated over there. To know they've got good things to go back to. Not a fucking sticker/magnet.
