What can "Organizational Management" major do for me?

I am trying to transfer to a Penn State branch campus... and that is the major I was advised to come in with. To me, it just seems like a more vague alternative to "Business Management"... I am wondering if this major will do much for me? or if I will probably have to search the heavens for a decent job...

The latter; any major that has a title that is open to interpretation and needs explanation is fairly worthless.

Psychology = no because I am not interested in it enough to get beyond a 4 year and you can't do CRAP with a 4 year psych degree...

Engineering = Hate math

Communications I hear does a whole lot of nothing for people, same as BA and BM...

Sheesh

It really comes down to what you would like to do professionally. Some require specific degrees, i.e., hard to be a chemical engineer with a fine arts degree. Other professions are rather degree non-specific.

Sounds like a bullshit major to me. "Organizational Management"? WTF is that?!? You have a degree in organizing things? You won't get a good job with that.

Go for something that straight and to the point like Finance or Medicine or Engineering.

I would think that it would be something to do with management of an organization, not necessarily a business...

I wouldn't do it. I just graduated in May with my degree in management and there is really no jobs out there except for those management trainee programs if you want to be a manager at a store. I've been interning for 8 months now while looking for an HR jobs, because that is really all that I could do. I've come to realize it's helpful to know, but you have to get a job managing people, which you won't get out of school. Go for something else.

This is a little OT in respect to the OP's question, but pertains to the subject of majors. For liberal arts colleges, majors aren't necessarily the determining factor of what one will do after college. Undergraduate majors at liberal arts colleges are usually a stepping stone for improving one's credentials to gain entrance to a graduate school (not always, depends on what you want to do). In a graduate program, the education is more focused and directed toward preparing someone for the career that they will ultimately choose. Just some info…

Bullshit major. Just like political science etc.

Our economy is horrible and only getting worse. My dad who is a senior engineer is having trouble doing what he use to and get a job that he once had.

I'm still studying mechanical engineering...i hate math too but just study real hard and pass the classes.

I'm sorry but why get the debt when your better off just going to a temp agency.
