Not a surprise. The SS is an absolute performance bargain. World class chassis and LT1 from the Stingray. Fantastic package.
Last paragraph sums it up. Very high praise indeed. Quote:

Bang 4 buck champion.
Dark gray 2ss on the way to a dealer I've known forever. Excited. White, black. Order of what I'm looking at locating. I've owned one red car, 280zx, and want to see one in non metallic red too. I see no way a test drive won't seal the deal for a 45k/2SS well optioned. Manual of course.

Camaro SS is faster then M4 ( http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...-tested-review ) yet it costs about the same as above-poverty-specs 228i.
Based on this video they improved interior quality and functionality as well. This car makes it harder and harder to justify paying BMW tax. |

I don't care for the color yellow and wouldn't buy a yellow vehicle but that looks good.
Dying to drive this.

I miss my 2010 SS, it wasn't as practical for me, but damn it was a lot of fun and handled amazing (sways, braces). It definitely satisfied my desire to have a decent performance car and I didn't feel like I wanted to be driving something else. I'm not ruling out getting a new one, but I promised myself my next "car" will be an airplane, so I'll have to struggle through that decision.

You know, now that they fixed the interior, maybe it's time to use a suspension design from the last 60 years. I know they're transverse and all, but let's ditch the composite leaf springs already.

For me the biggest key was the noticeable drop in weight. Makes the car faster in straight line, braking and in corners, gets better gas mileage, and is extremely reasonable in terms of price.

Putting on my flame suit
If people can put aside badge status, the C7 Corvette and the Camaro are absolutely fantastic cars. We pay such a premium for a German badge and the "perceived" prestige factor to drive a car that really isn't better and, in many cases, is actually not as capable in performance and also feel. Yes, I said it... feel I miss my C7. It was an amazing performance car, involving, fast, connected, incredible performance and a great track car too. As much as I love my M4, if I didn't need a back seat I would still be driving a Stingray... or a Z06 for the same cost as my M4. The new Camaro is now similar with a backseat. I don't love the style, but that's subjective, otherwise I might buy one... especially given it weighs about the same as the M3/4. That's crazy IMO... GM should get full credit.

Who cares... The performance and feel are stellar. I could care less how they get there because they absolutely nail it either way.

It will be interesting to see how the Mustang GT350 and this will stack up against each other.

No fly to gt350. A new chevrolet colorado v6 and a camaro ss for basically the same dough. Market adjustment is not in my playlist. I haven't heard "drivers car" regarding the gt350. It may feel better than the ss for all I know.

I'm not a big fan of the looks either. If you put a gun to my head and I had to chose between this and the Mustang, I'd probably go with the Mustang.

Hats off. Impressive times we live in. I'm curious to the gt350 vs ss comparison as well. Still no interest in the Chevy just becaus the looks aren't my cup of tea but bravo for making a kick ass car. Jealous we have to pay so much and we still complain :/

So they give the award to a car that is barely on the streets? I'm happy with the new Camaro but giving the award to a car that's barely out is pretty absurd and even more so for the "2016" car of the "year".
Great car but there is something better out there. Last edited by Vigilante375; 11-17-2015 at 07:07 PM.. |
