A new Tacoma was presented some weeks ago, it features revised exterior, interior and new features. What do you think about this truck?

I think it's a quite good pickup truck, very reliable, but too underpowered for hauling or towing smth

Did someone owned Tacoma? Or used to own?

Nice truck but can't tow that well, which is why I've never considered a Tacoma for my next truck.

My brother has a 2015. It's a great truck with bulletproof reliability and insanely high resale. Definitely a good investment if you're in the market for a midsize pickup.

They are pretty nice trucks but if I were in the market I would get a full size. More room, better towing, same gas mileage and almost the same price.

toyota hasn't changed much for the tacoma. alittle more powerful engine, but i suspect that reliability will be excellent.

my winter driver is a 2006 tacoma crewcab, hauls my bikes and is useful for schlepping back and forth from home depot.

but it is alittle anemic for towing a trailer+racecar. if you want a midsize truck but with fullsize towing capabilities, check out the Colorado offering with the cummins diesel.

I'm liking that the truck market is moving to diesel for smaller trucks in the near future so towing more is easy in smaller package. So far just half tons but expect it to continue.

2012 Taco 4x4 access cab here, 4.0 v6 auto. Bought in no small part for its towing capabilities (yep it has the tow package). I love the truck but the right diesel engine would make it better. So I hope you're right.

Great truck, I had a chance to drive one when it first came out... the only problem that I found with it was that it was severely under powered. Sadly, just like the last generation...

Me too. I'm using x5d as my tow rig. Have jbd tune and puts out 500 plus lbft. Limiting factor for towing is the frame not the engine.

I had a 2010 tacoma for a year or so until I realized for just a loss of 3 MPG I could have a tundra and more room, haven't regretted it so far.
Small v8 that is, the big one drinks gas

Toyota Tacoma is a pretty nice truck. But I appreciate Tundra more. I think good truck should have enough amount of power

The new tacos are quite nice. They've almost made it a mini tundra so to speak with styling and options.

Really where the taco fit in was the person that wanted a nice pickup that could do light hauling. The price point has always overlapped that of the Tundra so if one was looking to tow they could always just buy the bigger truck.

But the size of the Tacoma is what sells it and keeps the resale value so high.

Our 2016s are flying off the lot, only ones sticking around are the 2wd ones we forgot to edit.

One big difference between Tacoma and Tundra is 'wheeling'. A heck of a lot of Taco owners are offroaders and Tacos are serious players in that genre. Toyota caters to them with special models that have stuff like special low speed traction control settings, manually controlled locking diffs, and the like. Even my plain jane 4wd Taco is a pretty serious off road performer.

Not sure I like the new look although I think it's growing on me.

Biggest drawback is I see no huge difference between the new 2016 models and the 2005 Tacoma I had before upgrading to my 335. Not to mention lack of power and no V8 option (although I understand that they want people to pony up for the Tundra at that point).

Go and compare the difference between 1995 and 2005 and you'll see drastic differences as opposed to 2005 vs 2016.

Resale is insane on those things. You'll see 2005/6/7 models listing for nearly $20k on used car lots. There is little reason to not just buy the exact one you want brand new.

This is purely from reviews but pretty much stops me from heading to a dealer for a look. Back to Colorado / Canyon.

Taller drivers may find it cramped and difficult to find a good driving position.
Headroom
Weird steering tilt
Seat position in general

I'd go fiddle around inside one if I were you.

That would always be in the back of my head if shopping for a Toyota truck. I've seen the frame issue first hand (on a lower mileage truck) - I was poking holes through the frame with my finger.

My 13 year old Chevy truck, that I've replaced all the fuel and brake lines due to rust (very salty roads here) still has a solid frame.

A friend of mine has an '06 (can't remember which) that Toyota is footing the bill for an entire new body-off restoration of the frame. I just can't believe the cost involved with that.
