Headrest dissolving

I can't put it any other way, something's causing the headrest to dissolve.
I have sent this picture to my dealership. They haven't gotten back to me yet.

We have not attempted to clean the headrest or something. I just noticed it a couple days ago. I'm basically the only one who drives the car besides my wife who drives it once a week or so.

Can hairspray cause something like this?

I use gel and my pillow case is kinda discolored from it lol. I don't see what hairspray wouldn't cause some effect but this is bad. That sucks! Good luck.

Holy crap! How is your hair still on your head - sorry, bot this is extreme! Whatever product you are using would appear to be caustic to leather. Looks unrecoverable to me i.e. most likely will need to replace the headrest. Best of luck - hopefully you can make a case to have it replaced under warranty.

Hope so, too. Thing is I don't use hair products. My wife who does rarely drive the car and why now, we have it for almost two years now? And why are there not more cases of this?

That is weird - it is also offset obviously from center - did you by chance use a different leather cleaner at some point - it does look like a circular motion tope of pattern - could someone in the family have stained it and tried to remove the stain with a caustic cleaner - OK, getting all CSI now and prob over interpreting !

The leather looks like it is fine. Just needs to be cleaned and re-dyed.

I see what you see but it also appears to be 'scabbing' a bit so not so not so clear to me that it will be recoverable - certainly worth a try.

Well, I did think about my teenage sons. But: the one who has once taken my car for a joyride at night is in college now, the other one has it's own car.

I did not use anything on that headrest, nor did my wife.
I have an appointment at my dealership today. I'm really curious as to what their take will be.

The dealership has agree to replace the headrest. The mystery remains.
