AMG GT S sales
Looks like the sales of this car is not as thrilling as the car. Maybe too early to say, but it doesn't help when the Z06 will wipe the floor with it, plus you can buy a M2 for the same price as 1 AMG.
Too many choices out there, maybe too many sports cars? http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articl...r-a-sales-dud-

I too would get one over a Z06 due to the much better overall package: great interior, superior fit and finish, superb performance, and exclusivity. Vettes are a dime a dozen, and add to that the overheating issues of the Z06 and it just isn't as great of a buy as it should be. I wouldn't even consider a Z06 until this issue is resolved and the fix is well documented.

yes, most of you would get the amg over the z06, the problem is that when you are shopping for a 150k car, it is kind of an irritating thing when a car that is much cheaper is better.

This car needs a sub-$70k starting price like the F-Type. For the entry level model, they put in the new I6 engine that's about to drop. And they need a roadster version too.
Also, axe the SLK and rebuild the entire sports-car image of Mercedes around this car. Mercedes has too many two-seaters. And the message they send is all over the place. |

hmmm not really, You can buy a GTR which out performs the lambo but at the end of the day a GTR does not hold the presence of a Lambo. BTW so far in strait line numbers you are comparing a car that makes 150hp MORE than the gts. next the only comparison thats been posted I've seen between the 2 is the corny world greatest drag race and the gts is what 2 tenths of a second slower than the mighty z06. honestly the comparison here is horrible. Z06 to 911. the 911 cost a hell of lot more and the z06 out performs it in a few areas but at the end of the day the 911 is a 911 and a z06 is around every corner. I live in miami I see as many vettes as I do m3s.

So did people think the AMG GT-S was supposed to be a high volume seller?
As far as I can tell they sell every single one they make. I doubt AMG is losing any sleep over it. I could have bought a Corvette stingray for the price i paid for my M235i with its packages and optional diff. Does that make me an idiot? Corvette was never on the radar. Just like a Z06 isnt on the radar for people buying an AMG GT-S. Personally I think the AMG GT-S is a brilliant car, and if I was in the market for a car like it with that kind of money to spend it's likely what i would buy. |

Why would someone buy that if the dealer had a few out back? Not to mention on a niche car like that the dealer might not even own it, it might be a promo vehicle for show and testing. I am not saying they are unobtainium. But they certainly aren't clearing them out on a Black Friday sale. |

so that means they don't sell? If I drive to Vista bmw right now they have 2 m3s in the show room and 6 other m cars not to include the other 50 on the lot.

Well 911's definitely outsold BMW 1M's in 2011.
I guess BMW had a hard time moving them right? Sales figures are just one number that doesn't tell the whole story, there are a million factors that go into that number. The AMG GTS was never meant to sell in the same volumes as a base 911. So it is pretty irrelevant to compare their sales numbers. |

same 150k pricing
AMG GT vs BMW I8 I8 outsells it more than 2 to 1. I8 also had supply issues- I have been to a few BMW dealers and have yet to see any I8's on the floor.

The part that was omitted is that they both have a 10k adjusted market value lol.

funny, i am the only one pulling actual sales numbers. justify it all you want. If the sales are declining month to month just after the car is released... well you can see that the demand line is falling.

I don't get the incessant "Corvette is faster for less $" or "GT-R would kill X for half the price." If this truly mattered to everyone, there would only be like 5 sports cars on the market and no one would buy a car that costs more yet isn't faster. In reality, people car about looks, sound, image, the way the car feels/handles in addition to pure numbers. Would you buy a cheaper smartphone that has better specs/performance, even if it looked terrible, was way too big, felt cheap, was difficult to use and crashed all the time? |

So I mention to you that sales numbers aren't the only factor. And your response is to pull even more sales numbers?

It is supported by available empirical evidence. You are talking about something that you yourself did not define. I cannot debate your opinions. You can enjoy talking to yourself in a mirror if you think they are facts.
