It was 6.15 pm (my time) straight after a run with my friends to get food into us after a week in the forest when I saw the first clip. I started laughing, since seeing that destroyed all hopes I had for me making a difference in this world.

In all these years we have learned nothing. Events like that will happen again and humans are ready to sacrifice others to keep it away, instead of trying to read the desperate minds behind the leaders.

Ask any woman would they let their child go into a battle instead of a school.

I remember this like it was yesterday! It was around 11 o'clock at night down here. My son, who is now almost 15, was almost one and it was one of the only nights, if not the only night, he wouldn't sleep. He was awake and carrying on, as they do, and then the news bulletins started. Spooky arse!

My family and I were lucky enough to visit the monument at ground zero last year and it was very moving and honours all the victims so very well.

Even on the other side of the world we don't forget, it was all so very sad.

I remember coming home from school in year 7, had only been at big school a few days came home and my mums partner was home before me which never happened.

He worked opposite Big Ben / Houses of Parliament so was sent home under security threats.

He had sky news on and I see the unreal footage on TV and I think it was from this day I went from the innocent life of playing out not having a care in the world to realising what a messed up world we live in.

I really need to get over to the US and visit New York and this memorial. Will be with me for life and I'm not even Murica!

I've been to Ground Zero twice. First time was when they had cleared most of the debris and recently. Very moving experience both outside by the waterfalls and in the museum itself.

But one thing that sticks out to me...people can always show me a new low. The first time I was there, there were street vendors along one section of the fenced off area. It was like some 3rd world market bizarre. They were hocking their 9/11 products. I was extremely disgusted by the display of just downright greed. The recent visit also provided me with a new level of disgust for people. There were people laughing...carrying on like they were at the beach. What would possess anyone that taking a smiling selfie with what amounts to a grave site in the background as being appropriate? Really? Fortunately, none of this behavior was observed inside the museum. Maybe the people that took the effort to go in actually have a brain in knowing what is appropriate and what is not. Or maybe it's because there were signs telling people what is appropriate along with monitors spread out to remind/tell people what is appropriate.

I was working in my shop at that moment when one of my colleague's brother called her.(it was already 14.00-15.00 CET overhere) We needed to turn on the telly immediately....

And I remember being in NYC Christmas 1998. I was standing on top of one of the twintowers. So unreal.

Edit: Inside was one of those Tourneau jeweller's shops. I was looking in those shopwindows at some nice watches...man.

On my way into the office today had a moment seeing the new tower 1 building.

I think 9/11 is engraved in all american's hearts especially for us NY'ers

The pictures do stir a lot of emotions for me. Some very raw. I remember being just angry. But one thing that also stood out about my memories from those pictures posted. It was a few days after we were all allowed back to work. A friend/coworker was sending an email with much of the same pictures posted above. What mad me angry about the email was why she was sending it. It was a hysterical chicken $hit email. Saying how scared she was and how the government needed to do more to protect us peons that work in this particular government building. I was pretty pissed that all she was thinking about was herself at the time. Never mind that it took this incident to give her a wake up call that because of the place we were reporting for work that we were all targets anyways. 9/11 never changed that. She was just happy to collect the pay check that was higher than other similar workers in the Federal Government because of the security clearance she held.

While my posts so far have been negative towards people in general, I do have hope. I've been helping out an organization called K9s For Warriors. The organization was founded as a way to help veterans suffering from issues (physical and/or mental) from their deployment(s). The head of dog training/operations was a police officer that took up the call after 9/11 to join the military. He went on I think 2 or 3 tours to the Middle East. His mom felt he has done enough to serve his country and set this non-profit organization up as a way for him to continue serving.

Hard to believe it was 14 years ago. I remember that whole day like it was today! I was on my way to a job site in Carmel, NY in my E34 535i listening to Hot 97 when they reported a small plane hit one of the towers. I'm thinking to myself wtf? Then I arrive at the site and all the workers were listening to the radios in their trucks and then we heard everything. We all then left work early, classes cancelled, it was so devastating. As a NY'er, 9/11 is embedded in me for life.

I was still back home (Asia) when this happened. I remember I was still in college and saw my dad watching CNN with the twin towers smoldering. What an awful, scary sight! So I can only imagine the panic was here! I am telling you guys, you were never alone though. Even on the other side of the world, we felt for you that day. It is a shame, but it made people stronger and more vigilant.

This is my view from my office today. Sometimes I expect to look out and see the twins standing there, but then vividly remember that awful day, and my front row seat with my horrified crying coworkers.

I was 13 (8th grade) and was at the lockers in between classes when I overheard someone mention that they heard on the radio that a plane had crashed into one of the Towers. When I got to my next class the teacher had the TV on watching the coverage, everyone wondering what was going on and what it meant... then the 2nd plane hit.

If only that was really true. Maybe for some but certainly not for all.

Hard to believe it's been 14 years, and it still moves me to see these images. Not sure it's necessary to post the image of the man falling to his impending death though. His family may not want that. So saddened and horrified by the whole event. My heart goes out to the families of loved ones lost.

Have to agree with Lups: "In all these years we have learned nothing. Events like that will happen again".

Is a military solution the only solution? Or does that just create an escalating situation where someone will want to retaliate any way they can? Can we pour a few trillion into educating them (and us) in the hopes of finding some understanding? I do agree however, some military action may be necessary... but not at the cost of creating more jihadis out of the little ones who have just lost their families.

All this is very sobering. And sad.
