Comfort access an option even for $122,600 760Li!!!
I just thought it was crazy that for $122,600 you still don't get keyless entry standard that comes with low 30k lexus and infinitis. I guess BMW thinks that if you can afford that car, $1,000 for CA is nothing

BMW = You have to carry around the key but don't need to whip it out Mercedes = Credit Card sized transponder that fits in a wallet/handbag The thing I don't like is carrying things in my pocket, and with Comfort Access I still have to. |

I notice it. And I don't carry a wallet because it bothers me. Just FOB in one pocket, and $20-50 in another + license + credit card

I don't have CA and yes, it's basically turning the key but worse, cuz it's inserting+pressing button. And the keys is small, but my key holder is big so it shows...

I love my CA. I agree with the other posters, it gives the start button a purpose, and infact this is why I specified CA in the first place. I didn't see the point in inserting a key then pressing a button. Mind you, on the loan cars I have had for services (1 Series), I did get adept at putting the key in and pressing the start button at the same time with the same hand by keeping a finger extended.
I have no problems with it being a fob, as I have to carry other keys around anyway, and the fob sits nicely on these keys and they are variously in my pocket, or on the passenger seat or in the door pocket. I do like the MB concept of start button on the top of the gear stick, does seem convenient, but I hope it had an interlock to prevent unintended switching off of the engine. In terms of non-CA solutions, VW's insert 'n push to start key fob wins ergonomic points for me... but not the rest of the car.

... by the way, Comfort Access is standard in the 7 Series in Oz, and so it should be for a car costing $AU186,000 to $AU346,000 ($US148,000 to $US276,800).
BMW Oz seems to be going on an up-spec spree of its vehicles on offer here, I think it is standard on some 1-Series models here too...

didnt care for the bells and whistles. Luckily, BMW made some of the options i want standard on the 335 such as xenon headlights and logic 7 system. One thing they should have standard is leather. Its almost embarrassing telling people i had to pay extra for leather on 40k+ luxury sporty car. |

Just like everything should be prewired, at least for US cars. Since US is the highest grossing market they should pre-wire everything, ie. xenons, CA, homelink mirror, folding mirrors, L7, etc. This way cars bought on lot can still be customized like ordering from the factory but at a slightly higher premium. It just makes more sense, the wires are being ran at production whats adding a few more and leaving a extra harness capped and dangling at various points tucked behind body parts. Quote:

Actually mercedes used to have that card, now they have a key just like bmw. What's nice however, is that Mercedes has a plastic key that you can insert and turn like a regular key, or if you want to use the keyless go feature you insert a start button into the ignition slot.
