How often do you wash your car?
I usually wash my car once a week due to bugs or dirt that accumulate on it. My friends and neighbors think i'm nuts to wash my car that often. And on top of it, I wont let anyone else wash my car but myself...infact my family says that i'm anal about it ...... oh well. So I was wondering, how often do you guys usually wash your car....and do you do it yourself, or do you have someone else do it for you?

When I lived in Atlanta and had the ability to wash my car myself, I would wash it once every week or two. Now that I am back in the northeast, I probably wash it every 2-3 weeks. I don't anywhere to wash it here in my building, so I have to let someone else wash it.
Even though I wash it less frequently, I also drive it less often. On average, my car looks as clean as it did before. Granted, I could go for 2-3 months without washing and it will still look cleaner than many of the other cars up here.

Myself every other week before with the Silver Accord.
But now it appears that I'll need to wash the new Xi every week. I'll probably alternate with doing it myself and then taking it out the next week.

Once a week or more. I goto the self wash places at night usually and wash it with bucket. Then use their shit to wash it off and pressure clean the wheels. I cant stand a dirty car, in that sense I'm anal and proud of it.

you guys really shouldn't be washing your cars once a week, it'll dull your clear coat significantly within a year, if you can manage holding back that inner car washing demon, 2 1/2 weeks to a month is recommended. follow this and in three years the finish will still look like new after you wash it!

If anything you should be washing your car more often then less. If brake dust is left on wheels for over 2-3 weeks it can bake it's self into the clear coat on your wheel's finish and leave black residue that is impossible to get out, not to mention the harsh contaminates from mother nature such as, bird poo, sap, and water that can eat their way through your finish. |

I do always hand wash my cars and apply a coat of wax every couple of months or so. I used to wash my car every weekend such as yourselves when i got my new RSX back in 2001. Like a fanatic i bought all new wool wash mitts, sponges, and buckets. Anyway after 6 months i noticed the car didn't have the same shine to it as it used to. this was caused not just from swirl marks, but the clear coat as a whole just looked duller. I also always used a sponge for the wheels and exhaust and the wool mitt for the rest of the car as not to rub dirt particles into the finish. it would shine when wax was applied, but i don't have the time to be waxing my car every weekend. so anyway fate would have it that the car was deamed a lemon because of the airbag sensors malfunctioning, and so ever since I never wash my car more than once every three weeks unless, you know theres a date involved or something. Three years later and the finish shines just as day one when washed, even when i haven't waxed it in a couple months. this is just my experience, i also have a silver car so i'm not very anal about washing it due to the fact it hides dirt well.

Since then i've been using Meguiars gold class wax liquid i just use an old t-shirt to apply it and terry clothes to wipe it off. that's been working fine and it smells great.
