50 Shades of ///M
So, we have seen your great taste's in cars and the ever relatable time pieces of varying worth and precision movement, perhaps it is time to see what shades you view the world through as you drive your ultimate driving machine. Please note I have yet to order, but am well on the way to.
I found these polarized shades diminished the effectiveness of the very cool HUD, when I took a F82 for a test drive.

I think OP wants us to post a picture of our sunglasses (shades)?
I don't have pics... but I have a pair of polarized Ray Bans and a pair of Versace sunglasses in my car...

Ahhh...I see that now. Anyway OP, you can fix that polarized thing by adjusting the angle the HUD projects at (setting in the idrive)

Have you actually seen this work? My CA told me the same during a test drive, but when we did the rotation adjustment it only tilted the HUD image back and forth, it had no apparent effect on the polarization angle. I could see the HUD through my polarized glasses but only weakly and the rotation setting did not change this. If I actually rotated my GLASSES or tilted my head then the HUD became much brighter.

Is this like the "post your watch" thread, only even more stupid? Wasn't sure that was possible.

People in this forum sometimes get caught up in "who has the best toys?". This is just one of the mate, house, garage, watch, etc. threads

Amazing that these people can acquire all these things but not be able to cope with a single flaw/blemish in a car.

Personally, I prefer mirror-coated lenses, or a tint+anti-reflective coating. It still cuts down on glare, but doesn't interfere with digital readouts like polarized lenses do.

HUD - Horizontal vs Verticle Projection
I have never been able to effectively use the HUD with my Oakley polarized sun glasses in my F80. While the iDrive does indeed allow a slight change in the angle of the HUD image position, it is not enough to counter the lens doing its job of blocking horizontal light. BMW would have to provide a screen that actually rotated to project the image with vertical light in lieu of horizontal. It would be interesting to understand how much horizontal sun glare is seen with those of you who are able to see the HUD (100%) with your polarized lens's.

Polarized lenses are e.g. forbidden into modern cockpits and my very good Oakley Magnesium Switch Ice isnt very suitable to use there and also everywhere where LCD-Displays are in use.
But as long as I rode my bimmer to read the HUD wasnt a problem.
