What an idiot truck driver. Did you get the name of the company on the truck? If it is a large company, report the sicko to the management.
What suburb was this in?

I'm with petcat on this one, some truck drivers are just unbelieveable, but after a while, you realise, your the one with the powerful engine, so next time you wanna switch lanes petcat, don't signal and wait, because that gives a "I want to move over" message, and not everyone will let you
If I've seen a gap, then I usually signal and move, which sends an "I'm moving over, so f**k off" message, come what may if the idiot speeds up instead of allowing themself to decellerate, then they will have to brake, but I don't move over and cruise about, if I'm going to to move over, rest assured, my foot will planted to match the speed of whoever is approaching behind It's driving habit I suppose, truck drivers in England are not so terrible, my problem is mainly with bus drivers who don't signal when moving out |

you have to understand that those drivers probably havent been sleeping. They've been drinkin nothing but coffee to keep them awake. But sometimes the trucks are too big for them to see you. But yeah I would be pissed too.

I like to keep as much of the surrounding traffic in my head at all times when I am driving, and plug in scenarios that could result in problems -- "what-ifs". That usually results in preparation well in advance of any moves I will have to make. I do not assume reasonable driving behavior by others. Just the opposite. To fail to plan is to plan to fail. In your case, I might have taken the time to drop back behind the truck to get in the exit lane, or zip up to insure that I had plenty of space that he could not block me off from the exit. Knock on wood, but I have never been in an accident, and only one ticket (trying to catch my friend in a motorcycle that had his lights off) in over 35 years and a half-million miles of driving, some of it a bit insane. Perhaps most importantly, and most difficult, I try to always keep my emotions out of my driving decisions. Always try to laugh, not curse. One of my kids had a great effect on me, when in traffic one day he said, "Daddy, why are there so many Dammit people out today?" They can be such astute observers. Always listening to what you say when you wish they weren't.

do you mean truck like a pickup or truck like a big rig 18 wheeler type
if you mean the big truck, they you're crazy. No 18 wheeler has the amount of acceleration to cause a BMW any trouble. You have to account for the fact that they can't stop accelerate or maneuver live a normal car. give the truck drivers room |

most truck drivers are careless bastards who know that in case of collision with a passenger vehicle, they will at most get a scratch on their truck while the car would be a pancake. because of that, they drive 40mph in the left lane on a "left-lane-no-trucks" two-lane highways next to another truck driving 40mph forming a line of cars behind them. then when you get to pass them, they flip you off.
where are those "how is my driving" numbers on the back of trucks anymore? i remember seeing them and now they're either scratched out or none at all.

how many times do you see a-holes cut in front of trucks in traffic???
I am certain, truck drivers are more often on the receiving end of jackass driving maneuvers than the giving end. |

you may be right, but since i'm not one of those a-holes cutting in front of trucks in traffic, but get always harassed by them driving on highways, i see it from a different perspective.
violence produces only more violence so if it's like you're saying, then their approach of being assholes back is completely wrong.

I hate a-hole drivers. One a-hole driver leads to another a-hole driver. It's a vicious circle!
Sometimes I'm in a good mood and I'm cheery, and I let everyone who needs to change into the lane I'm in, get in front of me. However, when I need to change lanes and some idiot refuses to let me change, I get upset and then after that, I don't let others change lanes. So like.. if everyone was just nicer on the road, there'd be way less accidents and cutting people off occurrences. |
