Looking for a new beater for 20k or less
I'm looking for a reliable new car that's fun to drive as a daily. Thinking about a Impreza or Jetta, any recommendations?
Thanks

If you bump your budget to $25k then you open up some good options in what I would consider the fun category... GTI, FR-S/BRZ, WRX, Focus ST, Miata. You get the picture.

I bought an FRS for a daily driver and love it. I know you want new, but they can be had under 20k with very little miles. I see them under 10k miles go for under 20k all the time. Local dealer just had one maybe slightly over 10k they were asking 18k for it.
Before the FRS I bought a CC for my daily driver and I just couldn't deal with how boring it was. Ended up trading it after a few months for the FRS. |

Actually test drive a Passat and will likely buy next week. Turbo engine that's great on gas and lot of room for 20k out the door.

You'll come out ahead, and with more excitement, to just use your cars as the DD. You would rather spend $20k to save a few thousand (if that) on your current cars? This never made sense to me..

Just buy an Accord or a Civic if it's just a daily driver. Cheap to maintain, cheap to insure, cheap on gas, cheap to purchase...., what else do you need?
They'll run well into 300k with basic bullshit maintenance, and you can put underglows on and fit in at the local highschool. |
