Would you be offended if someone was racially discriminatory to a white person?
So it could be a bit of a time waster, but would you be ok if there was discrimination, but against a white person?
If not, at what point would you start to be offended (ie. derogatory name like cracker / whitebread, or something further?). (Personally, I don't really understand why I might be called a cracker, nor do I take offense to it, but I understand it might be a racist term for a white person). But here's what gets me...so there's all this outcry about racism, and generally speaking, at the center of it all is this white person. Whether they are actually racist or not (and sometimes, they definitely are). But the media loves this stuff. However, I never see any media attention when racism works the opposite way - when white people are discriminated against. For example, there is a predominately Asian mall nearby and I know they sell bootleg DVDs. However, they will not sell to me because I am white (probably think I'm a cop). But if you are Asian, hey, no problem, we'll sell you DVDs, cause you couldn't possibly be a cop right? It's annoying. Anyone have other examples of where they are discriminated against for being white? |

This thread is the very definition of flame bait and I can't imagine it won't be open for long before the PC police come along.
But to answer your question, yes. Yes of course. |

Had to google "loosies"! But yes, racism is racism, no matter what group is being discriminated against.

I once had a local guy call me an F'en Haole (white) out in the water, probably because he thought I was catching his wave. I told him thanks for the compliment. He said that isn't a compliment and I replied yes it is! He didn't know what to say and paddled away. We actually became friends after that. Sometimes you just gotta throw it back in their face.

In some respects, I'd like it to change. Not because I care, but rather, I'd like to see the world implode as all these sensitive sally's realize there's actually no way to please everyone...you're going to piss someone off somewhere, somehow. Deal with it and move on. |

I don't give a shit. I've been called every name in the book. I let it roll off my back. So many people nowadays are super sensitive.

I use "haole" kinda loosely, so I don't really take offense to that word (e.g. "shit man, I like Asians but I'm sick of dating FOBs... Haoles have been getting cuter by the minute").
However, I'm mixed with Romani descent, so I'm an easier target (so in theory you can call me a Chink, Haole/Cracker, Kilt, Limey, Paddy, Wop, Nazi, Polak, Gypsy).... But also confuse them when I denounce them and juggle the racial slurs, so then they kinda give up trying to pigeonhole me, so I kinda get to have a bit of fun in the process.

Somehow cracker, whitebread doesn't equate to other more "emotionally charged" words. Some words have a lot of weight, history, suffering, death, torment.... in them and when you use it to devalue someone else. Well, it doesn't turn out good for them. I remember when US soldiers used "gook" in the Vietnam War, which carried over from the Korean War. Doesn't mean much to me except they're ignorant. But you also have to take into consideration with older generation minorities like Asians, don't have good vibes or experiences from Americans especially during war time and/or when they come to America. The life of an immigrant, so again it's not an even playing field, so to speak.

I don't see how people get offended no matter what race you are. People are so fucking fixated on what everyone else says or thinks, it's hilarious. If people would focus on themselves, the world would be a much happier place.
If you're easily offended, then there must be a handful of insecurities your hiding behind. |

To be honest, I didn't really know racism still existed until I moved here. Sure, back home we have idiots, but when they start their bs the rest of us just shut them up. It's easy, since their points are mainly stupid always.
In two days after moving here I realized how bad the situation is here and how badly the situation doesn't want to be discussed was made clear after a parent teacher conference after the last Martin Luther King day. My kid was kicked out from her age levels reading and writing group for asking her teacher (she gets obsessed with topics. MLK made her read about nazis, holocausts, slavery and so on for weeks) why Americans bother to have a day to commemorate the man if the issues behind racism are not talked about. We're very, very white, and if not for a joke material (Koreans eat dogs, blonds are idiots, black men have huge dicks, white men are boring and so on), I was taught at home enough genetics to take the good food recipes, leave stupidity out and judge people on based of their individual value. I don't care what others say to me. 30 years lived in Europe has made this a nonissue but here it's a different world so I might even understand someone having hemorrhoids over this.

Here's what I've discovered.
Here in America, Minorities are allowed to make fun of Majorities and get away with it. Because everyone feels bad for minorities. So when minorities insult Majorities, everyone just laughs and no one takes them serious. Minority is defined as someone or group who is socially disadvantaged. Minority(or Majority) has nothing to do with a numerical value. - When it comes to Race in America: Whites are Majorities. All the other races can make fun of White people all day long and nothing happens to them. Whereas, if a White person makes for of another race, all hell will break loose. To me, this is so stupid. - When it comes to Class, Wealth and Money: The rich are Majorities and the poor are minorities. Poor people can say, curse or hate rich people, no one cares. But if a rich person said they hate poor people... oh boy, hell will break loose. - When it comes to Gender. Men are Majorities and Women are minorities. Women will say they hate men all the time. Women will hit and abuse men. Women will cheat, but it's ok. Women get away with any non logical nonsense they want, society will let them get away. I remember a few years ago, some lady was a guest on The View, she was bashing and talking about how she hates men. She mentioned on TV that she would be glad to hang her husband by his balls and watch him suffer. And everyone enjoyed it and clapped and cheered her on. You all know what will happen if a men said the same. - When it comes to Mental wellness: Sane people are Majority and retar... (i'm sorry) Intellectually disabled individuals are minorities. A mentally disabled can say whatever he/she feels like saying, no one will take them serious because they don't know any better. But the same will not apply for a sane person. This list can go on for ever. (Straight vs Gay, Tall vs Short... etc) So in conclusion, as a Majority, you are not allowed to make fun of a minority but be prepared to be made fun of by minorities. This is the world we live in folks. I didn't make the rules so don't take the anger on me. I'm just delivering a message.

This is rapidly changing. It won't be very long before whites aren't the majority and America is more mixed than ever before. It will be interesting to see for sure.
