VR46, 2nd:
"It's a positive first day and I'm very excited to be back on the bike. Today has been really good because I was consistently fast in both the morning and afternoon. We worked a lot on trying to improve our pace with a used tyre, but it's already quite good. The bike is good and with the new tyre we were able to attack and ride a good lap time. At the end I was in second place just behind Marquez, but not by far. It looks like the bike has improved in different areas. We still have a lot of work to do but the first day was ok." JL99, 3rd "It's a completely different story from last year, when we had a lot of problems, to now arrive here and feel comfortable on the bike and also with our position in the classification lap time-wise. This year we've been at the front from the beginning, in first three positions, and that means that the bike is working. My physical condition is very good. I feel strong, but the first day is always difficult. You have to use different muscles that you don't usually use at the gym or during your preparations, so you always get tired. However, compared to the normal pre-season I'm feeling well. Sepang is not our best track, but to have two Yamaha's in the top three is a good signal." Marc Marquez "I'm glad to finally get back on the bike. It's been a hard day and at the same time very positive, because on the first day after the winter break you have to regain confidence with the bike and adapt to the feeling of the MotoGP machine again. We tried three different bikes today, and this has been very important. I focused on testing them thoroughly and deciding which bike was the ideal one to continue working with at this test, and then this afternoon we focused more on one of the machines. I was able to start riding better and feel more comfortable on the bike. There are still many things to try at this test, so we have to remain calm like we did today and keep working." Dani Pedrosa I'm happy with the work we have done today on the first day of testing, because we were able to get back on the bike and we had a good pace. It went pretty well and I think we have improved the bike compared to the one we tested it at Valencia. We had a lot of work to do and it has been positive to have a good first day: it was important and we are happy with what we have achieved. There is still more to do, but we have taken a good first step. Tomorrow we'll see if we can continue moving things forward." |

3rd and final day of testing is now complete.
Here's a good summary: www.motogp.com/en/news/2015/test+Sepang1+Day3+end+day+report Valentino Rossi 4th | 1'59.401 | 49 Laps âToday Iâm more satisfied. It was a good day and we did a good job, especially because we tested everything and we decided what we have to use to continue the development. Iâm very happy because 1â59.4 is my best lap in Sepang in my whole career and Iâm already 0.3 faster compared to last year. Itâs true that the conditions today are good, but also compared to yesterday we improved the setting of the bike a lot and also my pace is not so bad. We also tried a race simulation, but not with our performance at a hundred per cent. We tried some different parts for the bike, something good and something I didnât like. My pace in the simulation was quite good so the test was positive. The only negative thing was the speed of Marc and Dani. They are a little bit faster than us on a lap with a fresh tyre, but also in terms of pace. That means that, if we want to beat them, we have to keep working.â Jorge Lorenzo 5th | 1'59.624 | 55 Laps âIn the morning we werenât very explosive to make a good lap time because the bike didnât stop so well on the brakes. We modified the set-up to improve the braking, but we didnât have any new tyres left to do a good lap time. I think we might not have been able to ride a 1â58, but maybe a low 1â59. The race simulation was interesting. We did one at the time of day when the temperature was the highest and our pace was very consistent. I think that if there was a race tomorrow, we could fight for the win, so this is positive. The bike improved a little compared to how it was at the Valencia test. I think we have a big thing to try at the second test at Sepang. Letâs see if this is clearly better.â |

Jack Miller #43 (2.01.895, lap 3 of 50)
"Today we improved our pace in the morning, managing to put in a different tyre at the right time and we improved our lap time by a second. Everyone else improved too, but we are making steps forward. "We made some real progress, particularly in the last three runs out on the track, when we started to work with the electronics including the traction control and anti-wheelie settings. It was good, so Im really looking forward to the next test and working some more on the electronics and aids to make the lap times come that little bit easier. "For now though, Im happy. Its been a positive test for me and the crew. Ive picked up lots more experience with the Bridgestone tyres and I think that it will get even better for the next test here." |
