Ok for starters, I am not a spoiled brat who is yelling at his parents to buy him a $60000 sports car or even $30000 (just wanted to clear that up). So I am currently 15 years old and I am going to need a car soon to get around places. I have to go to school and my job. My job is a referee so I need to travel all over the place so it isn t something that I can use a bike for.
Time for the serious part. I am currently in a very unconventional high school. It is for gifted children who excel at school and skip high school to go straight for college. This is known as dual enrollment. Instead of only taking one college class a year like most dual enrollment programs, I am taking 5-6 classes a semester. So I take 15 credits a semester for three years for free. My high school is funded by the college to pay for our classes and books and everything else. I excel even in the college. I have gotten all A s my first three semesters except for 1 B in ENC 1101 (pretty good for a 15 year old). I have done the math and I will be saving my parents around $56000 because of dual enrollment. I currently have 3.96 gpa at the college level and a 4.96 at the high school level. If I do so well in school a am saving them so much money shouldn't I be rewarded with a car? My parents agreed with me that a fun car for 15 grand that has a few miles on it would be a lot more fun than a new civic. I can handle the power also because I have been practicing on my dads e46 m3 (its a manual) so it would be fun to have a nice and fast dd. I have already told them I will pay for insurance and maintenance and all the mods since I am looking at an evo 8 or e90 328i. I make about 5-9 grand a year so I can definitely pay for it. Let me know what you guys think.

You will be rewarded for your hard work. The difference here is that you are not, nor should you ever think you are, entitled to things. You are doing a great thing by excelling at school and advancing faster than others. What you need to realize is you should be doing that for yourself only.

If your parents choose to reward you by helping you buy a car, you should be thankful for it. Expectation is what will destroy you. Humility can be very hard to have, especially at your age, but it is what will allow you to use yours gifts to their full potential.

As an example, I did not have much growing up and my mom tried her best to provide for us. I worked hard in school and earned my degree paying my own way through. I got my first job out of college at $54k per year. I have advanced quickly and am now 10 years in and making over $120k per year. I have found that one of the greatest strengths I have is that I remain humble in my abilities and accomplishments. I feel incredibly lucky to be where I am.

Be patient, you will go far, so long as you remain grounded.

You're 15 so my answer is it's up to your parents. If you don't get what you want, buy it when you're an adult.

I have no idea if you should get that car because its based on you doing well in school (good job, but irrelevant) and having a part time job. You can't use saving the cost of college as a reason to get a car. Your parents never owed you money for college. Plenty of kids have earned scholarships, but it doesn't mean you get to hit up your parents for the cost. Don't forget how much they've spent on you as it is. You actually owe them money. Also don't forget the maintenance costs of older luxury cars.

I'm just gonna come out and say it...NO. You asking our opinions on the subject just tells me right away you already feel you deserve it. Reward for your hard work will come when your earnings buy the car. Get in that mind set right now and you'll get further in life. My parents gave me a lot of things...I never felt I earned any of it. Like OneRib said, that was their opinion and that was their right and those were their decisions to make. When I was your age, I NEVER added up money I saved, would save my parents, or any such bullshit to justify to them, myself, or people on a forum why I deserved any car...especially not a BMW.

I've been working since I was about 12 years old (summers when I was in grade school) and all through high school and about 10 months after I was done high school just before turning 19 I paid cash for my bmw. Now if you're that busy with school it will take a lot longer to do but i don't think you getting a scholarship puts your parents in debt to you. They've already fed you for the last 15 years rent free, I think they deserve a break but I strongly feel like kids should earn their own shit these days and am grateful I had to earn mine. I am still young but do not feel entitled to anything. Just my 2 cents.

my first car was used and cost $500. i paid for it myself by working as a laborer for a moving company. my second and third car weren't much more than that.
