Which M car would you rather have?
So I've been debating a new car for a while now. 1st was thinking 335i, then E46 M3, then Lotus Exige, then back to the M3, then recently a M coupe.
Now I'm torn between the M3 and M coupe. The M3 is a practical sports car; the M coupe is a little less practical, but a bit more sporty. I love the exterior of both, but the M3 has the better interior. This would replace the E90 and be my DD for a few months, then become my fun/weekend car when I pick up a Civic/Focus/etc. as a daily driver. Of the two, which would you choose and why?

z4. i just love that car. but the M3 is indeed more practical while delivering the same kind of performance. that's a tough question.

Go with the Z4 M... If you get an e46 you will be stuck with an old car in 6 months and you will regret it when you will see the E92 M3. But if you get a Z4 M you will be styling. Plus it a looks real good.

The E46 is more refined and a better daily driver.
The Z4 is more sporty with a much harsher ride and a better weekender. It sounds like you eventually want a weekend fun car, in which case you should get the Z4 M and put up with the hard ride and lack of space/seats over the few months it will be your daily driver. I would choose the E46 (I am actually buying an E92 M3) but my circumstances are different to yours as this will be my only car and I would prefer the practicality of four proper seats and good boot space. If I had another car though I would not hesitate to buy a 2-seater, having said that it would be a Cayman S not a Z4 M. |

Could've had either. I chose a Z4M Coupe.

I'm less worried about the harsh ride of the Z4 M coupe - one of the perks of living in Phoenix is the amazing roads. More concerned with feeling cramped in there since I'm 6'2".

not really. the Ms from the current year (2008) don't really get discounted until the end of the year. it's good to shop for them in late november, early december when dealers need to get rid of them.

hl0m4n is talking about the remaining '07 Z4 M cars.
Right now, BMWNA is offering $7,500 in dealer incentives, plus whatever else you can knock them down. I've found a few remaining around the country, and $10k seems to be standard. Only downside is all the remaining ones are fully loaded with crap I don't need (nav, heated seats).
