I've got some Atomic Beta V carving skis. They're about 5 years old now, but still pretty good. I just bought a new pair of Dalbello boots in November. They're by no means "racing quality" but that's not my style of skiing (anymore).

I have some 1st gen. K2 shaped skis. I want a pair Dynastar Skicross 9s. I know of a place that sells last years models (new) for half the price, but the price is still more than I care to spend. I'll have to wait it out some more.

Salomon Scream 10 Pilots. They're great all mountain skis. I think they changed the name for 2006 though. They're Scramblers now or something like that. A little on the spendy side though, so I wouldn't recommend em unless you're a serious skiier.

I love skiing, so yes, people still ski. However, I dont think I am alone since the slopes were covered with people today...
I went and got myself this: Skis: Rossignol Zenith Z9 Oversize TPI (I think) Boots: Nordica Speed Machine 14 Poles: Dont know... Poles are hot though, they have a button which releases the wrist strand so you dont have to deal with the put on/off process...

Skis: Dynastar Autodrive Speed Cross
Boots: Lange Vector Bindings: Look Pivot 14 Race Lifter Poles: LEKI Carbon Fibre/Aluminium (Adjustable) I REALLY REALLY want a pair of Stöckli Stormrider XL's or Laser Cross Pro's. But damn are they expensive!! I rented a pair for half a day (almost died from the price) last season in Switzerland and they were just awesome!!

Depend how far east/west you go. Right now I am in Courchevel, France. If you come here to ski, there in no point in bring ing your own skis, because for about 20 euros a day, you get last years top of the line models from Rossignol, Atomic, Head, Nordica, etc. My experience with skiing in the states is that they use 2-4 year old equipment that been worn down pretty badly and usually costs 30-40 bucks a day... Book your flight a few months in advance and it can be found for less than 500 bucks round trip... Hotels at 1650 can be had for about 140 euros a night. At 1350 you can probably find them for ~70 euros...

I grew up sking for about 6 years, (black diamond skill) then switched to snowboarding because i get a greater sense of "being one with the mountian" so to speak because of the fluid movements performed on a snowboard. but i'll be the first to admit i was a much better skier than i am a snowboarder

Been looking at the Atomic Metron B5 & EX. Also interested in the Dynastar Skicross 10 now.
After skiing last weekend it appears that I am going to have to replace my perfect Lange boots. Their just too small and cutting off the circulation to my toes. Last edited by SCA; 01-13-2006 at 03:58 PM.. |

Atomic triplets!!! I just got them last month and they are great! You get three of them so if you break one you can stay on the mountain for the day and the next week while it is sent back to atomic to get replaced. They are a rather stiff twin tip ski.

I've been to Winter Place. Not bad, but not great. I have several friends that go to Snowshoe. It is supposedly "the place" to go. Last edited by SCA; 01-20-2006 at 05:28 PM.. |
