I didnt know where else to put it but found it rather interesting so here you go

******************

On 9th July 1932, the Prancing Horse emblem made its debut. Naturally, it appeared on Alfa Romeos, given that Enzo Ferrari was not a constructor at the time, simply running a team. The race was the Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours and the race was dominated by Scuderia Ferrari’s 8C 2300 MM. The winners were Antonio Brivio and Eugenio Siena, with second going to their team-mates, Piero Taruff and Guido d’Ippolito.

The story of the Prancing Horse is unusual and fascinating. The symbol first appeared on the fuselage of the war plane of Francesco Baracca, the famous Italian fighter ace. In 1923, an unusual meeting saw this symbol intertwine with Ferrari’s destiny, as Enzo Ferrari recalled. “In 1923, when I won the first Circuit of Savio, held at Ravenna, I met Count Enrico Baracca and then the Countess Paolina, the hero’s parents. One day the Countess said to me, ‘Ferrari, why don’t you put my son’s prancing horse on your cars? It will bring you luck.” The Horse was and would remain black. I added the canary yellow background, the colour of the city of Modena.”

When Ferrari established his company, the symbol became that of the constructor and today, it is the best known logo in the world.
