I'm shopping for a new mattress to getting something more big and comfy than my unkillable old firm coil bed. Memory foam seems comfy, but sleeplikethedead and a few other sites say they're not so good for sex for a variety of reasons

They recommend latex as blending most of the advantages of coil and foam as well as being the most durable, but damn they're expensive! I can get a well rated memory foam for under $900 at Costco (house brand- imitation tempurpedic), but a 9+" thick latex starts at close to $3k!!!

So what's the deal? Who's tried latex? Worth it? Is memory foam really as bad for vigorous, active sex as claimed?

We bought the top of the line Tempurpedic and we generally love it but wish we bought little harder foam.
We bought the medium density and it gets little hot in summer time and sometimes I get back pain but it usually makes me sleep like the dead. Also, we are experiencing little sag in the foam where we slept the most, and sometimes it can get real annoying.

And...as far as the sex go, it's terrible for so many reasons....It's too foamy to make yourself situated at certain times and you have to redo your bedding almost every time because things just get too wild with the foam.

If I could do it again, I would've go with 2 mattress with the money I spent for the tempurpedic and put one in the guest room. I like the W hotel version mattress that has 3" of memory foam on top with coil below.

lol this was my concern. i got a regular mattress with a thick pillow top and called it a day. no regrets

hmm i find sex in my tempurpedic quite more enjoyable due to how the foam stabilizes the body motion

to each his own i guess

Problem with tempurpedic is that it defies all physics you can use in sex.
It requires extra energy to generate a move and there's no return energy.

And it's 10 times harder to do top position in tempurpedic because your arm just sinks into the foam....

Like others have said, there is no bounce to a foam mattress you if you want more of a work out during sex by all means. Also memory foam beds ad about 5 degrees more heat while sleeping, so if you are a hot sleeper you dont want a full foam bed.

Hmmm...tough call

I hear latex conforms as well as memory foam, but it does it instantly without that slow sinking and is a little firmer, so you get more bounce and less quicksand. I'll have to check them out, but they're hard to find plus expensive. I do sleep hot, but my girlfriend sleeps cool. Has anyone here tried latex?

I hear pillow top has longevity issues. I'd rather get a firm top with a replaceable topper. That'd probably sleep just as warm though

There are also hybrids with a few inches of latex over foam

On the bright side, you're burning more calories this way and getting a better workout, however marginal.

Memory foam is def a no go for sex. There's no rebound for the lack of a better term. And your hands sink in when your on top. Me no likey. Makes it too difficult IMO.

We have three tempurs in the house. All of different firmness. You just have to find the tempur that fits you the best. Oh, and we have had two kids in the past 3 years. So the bed slowed nothing down!

Worst mattress I've ever slept on was at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas (now called "The Quad Resort and Casino"). It was lumpy and smelled like tobacco and it was probably covered with dry semen. And that's precisely why the room was $15/night (well, $25-$30 after I splurged on internet)

You guys telling me you don't have an extra bedroom just for sex? My guest bedroom is my official fuck room. It's got the prefect queen mattress for the job. I could never fall asleep on it but it's great for shagging. Seriously, don't fuck where you sleep people. Plus it's a good way to get full value on that unused bedroom. How often do you get guest?

Sex is not even a slight problem with the Tempurpedic. But the sleep is twice as good.
