The i5 is a full-electric powertrain vehicle that has a modernized classic vibe about it which my eyes would much rather look at.
Power train does not determine the asthetics appeal of a car. You can put an ICE or an EE and the vehicle looks the same.

The proportions are just very odd. It looks compressed from the sides, stretched up from the top, and like an SUV/2GC from the front.

The front doesn’t match the exterior styling and overall side profile is really bad looking.

The front bumper / grill design look OK, but why do we need another Chris Bangle "flame surfacing" inspired design with a Camry rear-end / tail lights ?

I am a bit so-so about the new i5 / 5 Series and specifically the electric i5. In the looks department : i think you need to see it in the flesh and i think it will be OK looks-wise then. In certain pictures / videos i have seen sofar i must admit that i have some doubts, but this was the same for some other BMW models that turned out OK in the flesh.

Then the i5 M60. I have a iX M60 on order which i should get in 3 months from now, but have been having some doubts if a i5 M60 would not have been the better choice. I was expecting the same 619 Euro HP / 1100 Nm torque and a better range than the iX M60 due to better aerodynamics. In this department i am a bit disappointed because it 'only' has 601 HP and more important only 800 Nm torque. And also quite a lot of less range than the iX where i was expecting a better range.

So all in all my doubts regarding the iX M60 vs i5 M60 are gone, and i will be happy getting my iX soon.

Until then i will keep enjoying my G80 M3 competition which is also a fine machine......

I'm driving a loaner '23 G30 540i right now. The G60 looks like an upgrade, especially inside.

Specific and Typical. Two words I heard in that commentary over and over again.

Design aspect wise;

The front is from the 2 series, this is apparent with the excessively high hood/bonnet profile near the windshield/windscreen.

The rear, I don't know. It is more shrunk and reminds me a bit of the MB CLS.

The side, yeah not much to say here except the black colored skirts. Why??

This is even more non-M than an i4 M50. The M50 gets a true M treatment including seats outside North American markets.

Idiotic how he goes back and forth between calling some features “M Sport” and others “M Performance”.

It’s a ridiculous branding strategy. I can’t even tell if this 600 HP car is an M car or an “M Something”, because it has three names.

They used to have an M1. Then an M3 and an M5. That’s all you need to say, BMW.

BMW caters to mostly Honda/Toyota/Nissan owners, who have transitioned over, and women. The M-badge has been sterilized and the current buyers are NEITHER driving enthusiasts nor aware of BMWs old reputation of being the ultimate driving machine. Spoke to a BMW driver the other say who swore his G80 M4 had a V8 engine while mocking Mercedes for canceling their V8 AMGs.

Subjectively, 9/10 people find you a fool.
Subjectively, you and 1 other person do not believe that.
Regardless, an overwhelming majority find you to be a fool, thus creating an objective reality.

With the utmost respect, please graciously allow me to use your logic:
Up until the late 16th century, virtually EVERYONE (99.999999999%) subjectively believed that the Sun revolved around the Earth. Would you say this was an objective reality? Did the Sun really revolve around the Earth because subjectively, virtually everyone at that time said it did?

Competition is a wonderful concept.

At some point, the car buyers’ votes with dollars (will buy) and no dollars (will avoid) will be counted. Then it all begins again: different designers, more market-aware product owners. We just have to wait.

This is hands down the best "affordable" EV sedan on the market. The i5 is going to sell like hotcakes!

I can respect that! To me it's phenomenal though. Can't wait to see it's stance on the road.

I like it just fine. But the range sucks. Interior looks beautiful. Exterior looks good. I didn't think much of the G30s looks anyway. I think this is an improvement. Impossible to make a midsize sedan look good to everyone.

Great! They made another one if their iconic cars ugly. And a bunch of car dealerships on this forum blowing air. Obviously, this forum will follow these new cars into "that new car market." Lame.

Putting the M mirrors on “M” cars is unforgiveable.

comments: if had to go all electric I'd get one. this is exactly what he calls it.. a business sedan; I like how it's not as rich looking as the mb eqs, and the lines are "safe". it looks good in video so in the flesh it should be tastful. bmw please stop changing the DRL designs. come on now. we need to have a talk. the grills. please, is there a toggle on/off switch for them? they are cool, but I really would not always want them on. business people need to sneak around sometimes. yous guy's ever see that movie Ronin?

It’s an attempt to hide the added height. The designer talks about how it was hard to design on the platform and not look like brick.

They removed most physical buttons on the steering wheel... i hope it's not like the crap capacitive thing found on the golf which triggers when you didn't want to press them.
