I am thinking about purchasing a G60 550e. I would like the i5 60 too but range is too short for my longer trips.
I did a test drive in a i5 40 today with 21 inch wheels and non adaptive suspension. It was an m version. Currently driving a Taycan 4 CT I like the higher seating position and the seat were good. I found the steering a bit too light and it didn’t handle bad road surface to good. Same with bumps. Driving wasn’t as good as I hoped. I was kind of hoping it would be similar to the Taycan. It wasn’t as stable in the corners as the Raucan. Does anyone have experience with the M professional suspension in the i5 60 / 550e. Is it more comfortable in comfort and sportier in corners in sport? I think I will go for the 20 inch tires anyway. Side note the 40e is more than fast enough. Really liked that part of the test drive. Especially with the boost function. Range is ok but not for my use. |

The adaptive suspension does a very nice job at handling road imperfections, but the best bet is to try to find a test drive with a car equipped with it. I doubt an i5 is ever going to feel quite like a Taycan, I’d say it’s a fast executive sedan more than a sports car.

I am not searching for the same drive but something in between. Some more comfort and still fun to drive. The one I drove today was just a bit to wobly in corners. |

I can say, with the 21”wheels on my M60 and the active suspension pro or what ever it’s called ( I have lost track in past couple yrs with all the M sport, M sport plus blah blah blah) the ride is smoother than my 2023 540 “M” with 19” wheels. When in relaxed mode it’s a much smoother ride than my 2023 was, in sport it’s still a little more refined than the 540 was,
My 2019 M550 with 20” and RF was similar to the 2023 , but I live where the roads are very smooth and nothing really aside from train tracks here and there. I guess I am saying the 2024 M60 with 21’s and RF is softer than 2023 with 19’s and larger profile tires. I enjoy the ride with 21’s and RF’s.

Not sure about the description, but we have M Sport Professional and Adaptive Suspension Professional. Adaptive Suspension Professional includes integrated active 4 wheel steering and active roll stabilization. I have the latter currently on my M550 and it does improve responsiveness in my view. I would get it again.

I have the 550e with adaptive suspension professional ( adaptive suspension and 4 wheel steering but no active roll stabilisation).
It's on the 20inch wheels and rides very comfortably on our bad roads. It's not a magic carpet as in air suspension but bumps are not intrusive and well cushioned. Very stable in corner usual x drive feel but in sport you can get the car to squirm for fun when you nail the accelerator out of a corner. The drivetrain is brilliant: ev for 80km and b58. It handles really well for a big car but not quite as agile as a Taycan CT. The Taycan steering feel is better. Taycan is noticeably wider which can be a nuisance on tight roads when overtaking. I was really interested in the Taycan CT but chose the 550e as we have an i4 in the house and I didn't want two full EVs. |

The Taycan is wide indeed. Did the Stelvio and some other passes and it was tight. Also difficult for parking. And it is low. And the seats are hard. After 2 hours I have to get out. Fortunately that is about the same as the long distance range. |

Option package are different in every region. This is the option in the Netherlands:
The 550e comes standard with Adaptive suspension professional: dynamic dampers and rear wheel steering. Adaptive professional suspension is standard on a 550e but optional on a 530e (~€2500). Optionally you can get “adaptive M suspension professional”: this adds active roll stabilization (cost in The Netherlands is around €4400!). The demo car I drove a couple of weeks ago unfortunately didn’t have this option. This suspension option was not available on older cars (G30/G31) as far as the sales guy explained. Think it’s a 48 volt system but I’m not sure if the car than also gets air suspension or not. BMW doesn’t explain on their website. I was impressed by the "stock" adaptive suspension setup of the 550e. Its not a “racecar” but handling is more than sufficient imo. Coming from a G21 330i with M suspension. Waiting for the Touring to be available to order. |

My Taycan immobilized again. Just the day before holidays. Unable to AC charge and after that electrical system error. Glad it was before holidays and not during.
First had an Evoque but the day of departure the dealer gave me a Panamera. In summer tired and without chains so had to take our CLA 250e shooting brake. Definitely returning the Taycan to the leasing company. Anyways did some driving in the Panamera 4e. Really solid but quite hard. It was on 21 inch with air suspension. Anyone else cross shopping the 550e and Pana PHEV? I am doing a test in a i5 M60 with M adaptive next week and hope it gives more comfort than the Panamera. Really like the look of the Panamera too. But is it more expensive and less well equipped. It has an opening roof but Injust found out it can be ordered on the 5 series too, at least in the US. Leaning towards the 550e. And the BMW dealer is 5 minutes anyway Porsche half an hour and had to go there a lot. A big pro for the 550e is the much large battery and longer range but also the stronger E engine. 200 hp in the 550 vs 135 in the Pana. Unfortunately I can’t test the 550 but it should be much better for accelerating in town. The Pana is underpowered when driving electric only. |

Did a test drive in an i5 60 with M adaptive pro suspension and 20 inch wheels today. What a difference in comfort with the 40 on 21 inch wheels and base suspension. Much more comfortable does a really good. Rear wheel steering makes it turn better and more stable on the highway

After 2300km in the 550e I'm on 2000km pure ev.
Just wafting around in comfort to work feels perfectly judged with 200bhp. The other 300km in sport with the augmented sound and savage mid range acceleration was more fun.. The suspension is firm but very comfortable and sporty when you want it with the adaptive suspension professional ( adaptive suspension and 4 wheel steering but no active roll stabilisation) |

I just got an i5 M60 with Adaptive suspension Professional Standard (including integral active steering) 2VV. Is there way to change the suspension to make it firmer? Sport mode in my mode is too fast. I like the normal throttle response but sporty suspension. Is there an individual mode like older BMW’s?
