NY State gives a tax rebate on EV purchases. Unlike the federal credit, it does not have income or foreign content related limitations, and it is issued by the dealer on the initial sale (as opposed to the federal credit which you get when you file your taxes). The NY credit also varies by auto manufacturer, but for all BMW EVs I believe it's $500. But like the federal credit, it applies directly to purchased cars, but only indirectly to leased cars. So if you buy or finance, your dealer should know to give you the credit (even though you almost certainly will not be eligible for the federal credit under 2023 rules and beyond). If you lease, the car's owner (BMW Financial) gets both credits ($7500 federal and $500 state) and has the option of passing it along to the lessee. BMW passed along to me at purchase, and I imagine this is common practice (although initially, when the car was announced until sometime in September, BMW was not planning to pass along yje full rebate, but keep it as extra profit for themselves - lack of demand for EVs helped us consumers.

This lease deal was sent to me for an ordered M60. The trade-in. is a 2020 X4MC.

I just based it on this broker's spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=2073940677

If you want to work with a BMW SA directly that gives great deals, talk to Dave @ BMW of Murrieta (his form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...l6BTg/viewform).

He gave me an instant great deal at a 5 series (9% off) 3 years ago.

I personally would rather work with someone that gives me a good deal off the bat than with someone who needs "convincing" or negotiating.

You can also sign up for the free BMW driving experience. Go, drive a car and they send you a $1k off code. It’s not retroactive though. So, I couldn’t put it on my existing order.

The code often doesn’t apply to new models though. Do you know if the i5 was excluded?

No, it says any 2022,23, 24 model in dealer stock. So you would need to have the dealer order it and accept a deposit to hold it.
