YouTube in motion on 2024 530i?

Look at @bmcodingnyc’s latest reel on IG.

Any idea how this is possible? Would doing something like this void the warranty?
Thought this system was so closed off that this would be impossible.
Hopeful to see more cool stuff become possible in the future.
Thanks!

I believe iDrive 8.5 allows you to watch YouTube while the vehicle is stationary. Given the army of lawyers, hired by a company, that built a vehicle in a country that does not even allow remote start for safety reasons ...I would most assuredly hazard a guess that somewhere in the fine print of his vehicle service contract there is something that warns the owner that fiddling and modifying iDrive could void certain aspects of the warranty.

I can confirm that. I have watched YouTube in iDrive 8.5 in my car. Although, it didn't work until I activated the esim in the car, basically adding the car to my mobile plan with T-Mobile.

I wondered if it was something like that. Hopefully since my t-mobile works here that will as well.

Thanks for this! I also have T-Mobile so I was wondering if there were any issues getting that set up. I was happy to see they were partners with BMW. Audi only partnered with AT&T and that was an awful experience.

It's been a while since I did it, but I don't remember any issues when signing up with T-Mobile for the car account. It just costs $20 per month on my T-Mobile bill for adding the new "device" line.
