Well, I Ordered a 5'er Today

After a number of months of research, stalking of this forum, watching videos. reviews and such, I finally went, and test drove the 540.

I must say that it's very comfortable, and I found the ride to be nicely compliant over broken street pavement, Interstate road seals, and such. The low-end torque is responsive and the B58 makes very nice sounds. I think I'll be quite satisfied.

I ordered a 2025 540. I am slotted for the dealership's first available allocation for 2025, as I'm their first 2025 5'er order.
  • MSport Package
  • Carbon Black Metallic
  • Bicolor Black 935M Wheels (Standard MSport)
  • Smoke White Veganza
  • Blue Open pore Ash Trim
  • Executive Package
  • Drive Assistance Professional Package
  • Luxury Seating Package
  • MSport Professional Package - Red Calipers
  • Bowers and Wilkins Surround Sound

I really appreciate everyone providing me with their opinions on the various packages and options. It was great to read everyone's reasoning as to why they selected specific choices.

Yes, I was able to negotiate 7% off of MSRP with no resistance. One dealership said that amount was "not profitable" (yeah, right) and the other one 30 minutes away, simply said "We can do that."

I was considering going through a Broker, but thought I'd try myself first. When I factor in the brokerage savings, it was 8%.

Congrats! Carbon black and the smoke white veganza is going to be so nice! The white interiors are really great… I went with my buddy to pick up his M60 this past weekend, and he got the Frozen Gray with silverstone / atlas gray interior. I must say that lighter interiors make the cabin so much more airy. You’re going to love it!

I agree. I prefer the lighter color interiors for the same reason but I was too chicken to get one because I thought I'd make it look too dirty over time. I went safe with black.

The lighter interior will really make the inside look bright, especially if you put dark tint on the windows.

100% agree with you… always nice to admire from pics or friends cars, but a bit on the squeamish side when ordering for myself. Lol. Didn’t want the headache of upkeep and maintenance, so went with the darker colors just like you

I ordered mine, and I was told first production for my 2025 540i is August. I should expect delivery in Nov. I chose the black M Veganza seats because I didn't want the Luxury seating option. I also went with black because my wife and I wear jeans a lot and with past experience on 2 separate vehicles with light colored seats (One BMW 325i with Leatherette, and one Land Rover LR3 with leather) the indigo dye from the denim tends to rub off over time and you get blue stain on the light colored seats. In the beginning it's easy to clean with leather cleaner, but over time it will reach a point where it just doesn't come off no matter what you do. So if you do wear blue jeans I would reconsider.

I think I'm going to stick with the white interior. While Veganza isn't "leather" per se, they do make a number of great products today to prevent dye transfer between jeans and automotive seating materials. I'll likely proactively treat the material with something like Gyeon Leather Shield EVO which is safe for vegan materials. I'll discuss it with my detailer, to see if he has any other product recommendations, but thank you for the heads up!

What's your Build Date? The response my Broker showed me today from Germany is that My 2025 US Specs Oxide Grey 540XI is slated for week 36 production, (Sept 2-8) with a week 41 (Oct 7-13) Delivery to the Dealer in Spain. Our cars may be build-mates. I have every option except Drive Assistance Professional. (I may download it later if I decide I want it), and I got the premium package so I don't have the glass roof or the glass controls. I got the 938 M wheels (20" M Star-Spoke Bicolor Black 938M Wheels with Staggered All Season Tires ) and red calipers. The Dealer is going to order and apply the M Sport badges on the fenders (Standard in EU), and I also am getting the rubber mats and trunk mat from them also. I did order the spare wheel and tire. And did not opt for the mobility kit, but may buy it anyway just so I have options.

You cannot download DAPP. It must be purchased at build time because they need to add LiDar which is not standard.

5 series does not have LiDar yet. It does not have the BMW Personal Pilot L3 feature. Only the 7 series is/was expected to have it starting this year, but I'm not sure if it actually rolled out yet.

Beautiful combo

CB + Red Calipers

I got LCI X5 in the same combo. Beautiful two tone color.

I’m pretty sure that was rolled out In Germany. We might not have LiDar, I don’t know. I was told by my SA that the i5 could not be retrofitted because it lacked the necessary hardware.

No LiDar, but DAPP does involve significant hardware changes thus it cannot be downloaded and purchased after the fact via the Connected Drive store.

As others have noted: Executive package sky roof is fixed glass it is not a large panoramic sunroof that can be opened.

Ah. I was led to understand all the hardware is already installed, and it could be downloaded later. Guess It's a good thing I love driving enough that I will just live without it.

I think your SA is correct. I was curious so I did a little information sifting regarding Highway Assistant. Apparently, it uses multiple sensors, including radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors, to enhance its function. The radar system is used to measure the distance of surround objects from the vehicle.

It doesn't use LiDAR though. As this involves millions of laser pulses that measure distance and render 3D images of the surroundings. Definitely more highly detailed and sophisticated than radar. If the 7 series has this, that's quite impressive!

I agree, with you, though. I can't imagine BMW including this advanced hardware in every vehicle on the hope that someone would pay for an advanced feature and activate it. Seems like it would be a waste of money, as there's a good chance a high percentage of customers wouldn't shell out the $2k for it in the future, and they'd have no way of recouping their loss.

Well, I got an email from my client advisor today, and my 540 has been assigned a production number. He provided it to me and mentioned that it was scheduled for an August build that should be completed by early September.

At least it seems a bit more “real” now.

How exactly do I go about tracking the vehicle through production? He didn’t even mention it.
