Id buy a 540 touring immediately if they brought it to the US. As a mid 30s guy into outdoor activities, I prefer the 540 over the m5 touring. I’d much rather have a comfortable and quick touring and an m2 for fun than one dedicated do it all car.

As cool as it is that bmw is going to do the m5 touring, it just misses the mark for me. I’ll have to go e450 if they don’t bring the 540, which really sucks because I currently have an e450 and it’s nowhere as good as my G30 5er was. Want to get back into a BMW for my daily more than anything. Please BMW bring the 540 touring to US.

Until then, I’m stuck with an e450 for everyday use, and still have an e36 m3 for fun.

I hear you. Our family is small and I wanted an M2, but could not justify it as the space just wasn't enough.

Went whole hog and got a G31 M-Sport. Honestly, with a few tweaks (stiffer dampers and a few M-Perf. upgrades), it truly does almost everything. It is great on Alpine backroads; has space for anything; has a glorious gearbox; and given the (underrated) engine performance, sips fuel when driven economically.

And if I want more performance, a reliable 420 hp is just a chip away.

There is no better all-rounder on the market, IMO.
