"No, not like that!" The government forces all the automakers to go down a certain path without doing much in funding to help the automakers who are clearly struggling financially because of it, but get mad when another government is properly funding it. If the US govt are going to force us to go down electrification, they don't have the right to cry when another country is doing it better than our half-assed funding and implementation. |

Here's a thought. Don't fund any of this and let free market capitalism choose the winners and losers. It's what built America and it's what can save America if the communists will allow it. If other countries want to put their thumb on the scale then hit them with tariffs and use the money to pay down our debt. Now you kids get off my lawn!

from the land of the strange
EV owners say their cars are making them SICK - as driver claims her Tesla caused her nose bleeds, 'debilitating' body pains and hair loss 15 May 2024 There are growing reports of electric car drivers suffering motion sickness, dizziness and nausea from the vehicles' braking and acceleration systems. And a former Tesla owner has claimed that she experienced nosebleeds, hair loss and 'debilitating' body pains while using the vehicle she purchased in 2021. While she was not entirely sure the Tesla was at fault, the Georgia resident and said her symptoms disappeared after selling the car. Tesla has been accused of being the 'worst offender' for causing motion sickness from its one-pedal throttle because they can be 'very jerky and really abrupt,' Ed Kim, president and chief analyst of AutoPacific told ABC News. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...ick-Tesla.html OK EV's cause hair loss? Sometimes you just need to understand that your customer base is a fry short of a happy meal? |

The "ALL or NOTHING" gang is in trouble.
Volvo’s US EV Sales Crater 69% In Q1 May 14, 2024 Volvo has ambitious plans to transition to all-electric vehicles by 2030, aiming for EVs to make up half of its global sales by 2025. However, 2024 has proven to be an abysmal year for its electric models in the States, with sales plummeting by a whopping 69 percent through April. In the first four months of 2024, the automaker sold just 1,298 EVs to American buyers versus 4,138 the same period last year. This figure stands in contrast to the simultaneous 55 percent increase in sales of its plug-in hybrid models, totaling 10,124 units, and a 15 percent rise in overall sales from 36,094 in Q1 2023 to 41,555 in Q1 2024. https://www.carscoops.com/2024/05/vo...ater-69-in-q1/ In a completely unrelated story: VW walks back BEV-or-bust strategy that annoyed rivals May 16, 2024 In fact, the automaker is selling so many cars still running on combustion engines that it’s on track to overshoot its emissions allowance next year, leading chief executive officer Oliver Blume to ask European regulators for leniency. It’s a sharp turnabout from only three years ago, when VW’s aggressive lobbying for EVs in the European Union (EU) opened up rifts between the company and some of its peers in the region. https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/711825 |

Both my wife and I felt sick after getting to the airport, she was preggo then so she feeling sick is understandable, but I never ever get car sick, it is literally the one time in my entire life I did.

Here's what widespread EV ownership brings. Hazmat fires, lots of hazmat fires. I suppose fire department dunk trucks with a claw to pick up burning EV's will be common in the future. Should only cost a quarter million or so per department. BYD having to buy its own insurance company is interesting, easier for the Chicoms to hide true costs. Oh, and the comforting feeling that you are more likely to die by fire driving one than a 1971 shitbox Pinto.

I do think the same, though. Personally, I think the sweet spot of the market is a regular ol hybrid vehicle and not even a PHEV. Significant improvements in fuel efficiency while minimizing the added cost to the consumer. Have said it a few times in here, but I think Toyota had it right with their hybrid technology 25 years ago, and I still think they have it right today. Their hybrid engines pushing 40% thermal efficiency match what you get from the grid, while weighing 500-1000lbs less than a BEV, and consuming less energy overall.
