Not sure if this feature carried over into EVs but on my M440 if you pull and the left shift paddle, it goes into Sprint mode where it drops you into Sport+ and drops a few gears for a little while and then resumes back to the previous mode. Not sure how that would be engaged since you probably don't have a shift paddle or transmission. LOL. But search your manual for Sprint mode and see if anything turns up.

It’s grown on me - I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it’s less cheesy in person than it appears in pictures. Once I worked out how to customize the colors and also to adjust brightness for night driving I warmed up to it.

I thought I read or heard somewhere that pulling the boost paddle automatically puts the car into sport mode (in addition to engaging the additional torque). Is that correct? If so, then that is kind of a one touch way to engage sport mode.

Pulling the boost paddle does switch you into Sport mode, but only during the 10s countdown. It reverts to whatever mode you were in after boost mode ends.

Someone timed a 0-60 run while in Efficient mode + boost, and ended up with more or less the same time as Sport mode + boost.

I've never owned any color other than a white car and the Mineral White doesn't disappoint. I have a few questions:

☆ Are the wheels on your i5 the only wheel option?
☆ How is the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond system (in the hundred reviews I've watched no one reviews it)?
☆ How do you feel about the Hans Zimmerman sounds in the vehicle when accelerating in different modes?
☆ How do you like the iconic glow grille?

It wasn’t available when I ordered in June - I can’t say the car doesn’t handle well as spec’d though.

Yes, that’s my understanding, but I’ll give it another try and note - I like the idea of just being able to put it in sport mode without having to click a button, turn the wheel and select the mode. The hand gesture is probably the best bet other than voice command.

No, there are several options on wheels 19, 20, and 21” rims.

The sound system sounds pretty good to me, reasonable richness and clarity to the treble, and solid bass.

The iconic sounds only seem to be a feature in personal and sport modes. I haven’t turned them off - I’m not in love with them, but also don’t hate them (I realize I’m sounding like on-the-fence-guy here, but I haven’t found them particularly annoying)

I don’t have the iconic glow grill, it came with the silver surround per the picture. I wasn’t sure if I’d want to go with the black and the iconic kidney grill outline, but it ended up looking better in real life than the pictures suggest.

I like the sound in Expressive mode the best. It’s a nice whooshing sound. Digital art is more of an outer space sound. My son likes that one.

I wonder if we have the same sounds….? My expressive mode is a weird Hans Zimmer soundtrack like effect with strings. It’s cool but I feel like I’m driving in a scene from The Dark Knight or something. I love that movie, but wouldn’t want to live in it ;-)

There were strings in it, but synth strings. I found it very soothing.

I put it in Expressive at times just for fun. It's dumb and over the top. But it puts a smile on face. At idle, it kind of sounds like a caged beast trying to escape.

TYSM. That was a great review. I have B&W in my M550i and the placement of the subs below the seats do make a difference; however, audio in the i5 M60 is phenomenal. I had the pleasure of sitting in one for about 20 minutes at the dealership while they tried to find my BMW chrome caps they lost yesterday.

I will say the car is gorgeous, just stunning. I am biased but it's very aesthetically pleasing. The audio was great and I did notice a difference with Logic 7 off. I also think the cabin is more insulated than in my M550i and the fact there is no engine noise makes the audio crisper.

Thanks, that was really interesting - I learned a lot about the sound system in the car; kinda makes me want to jump out and go for a drive now. I like the way that the reviewer captured the combination of the quietness of the car and how it allows the sound system to articulate more clearly. I’ve been thinking about this a bit, and I think this is probably where there’s a difference between the M60 and a pure “M”. It’s not in the power or straight line speed per se - although a pure M would I think have a greater “always on it” feel, but it’s this ability for the car to operate in a really refined, compliant manner and have these two really different personalities. I guess I can relate to that on some level!
