So the previous gen f90 gas engine produces more power lol… s68 in reality is the same engine as s63… it’s ridiculous that they’re muting this engine… seems like they do it on purpose, they increase 70-90hp with new gen everytime while they can easily do 150+

Looks like there could be room for shifter still? I was told they were keeping it but who knows. I thought I'd hate not having it but I don't miss it and not just saying that because I don't have it. After 40 years of driving with one I really thought I'd miss it - not the case. Would I prefer one? Yes.
I'm glad they're using the flat bottom wheel, too. It's nice. |

Thought I’d miss the traditional shifter when I purchased my X5 M60i but haven’t missed a single bit…
That said, I’m still surprised to see they are dropping it on a full M model. Thought they were going to keep it in play for the full Ms… 🤷🏻‍♂️

also really dislike the drive switch felt very complicated getting it was like how the F do you put into drive 😂 am sure u get used to it but felt super cheap compared to normal bmw they probably did it to save money or maybe just think it's better when it's not at all

Look at the current 5 and you’ll see the little crystal paddle in the center console. It works great in our X7.

I’m currently in a ‘24 760i loaner. Daily is a ‘22 XB7 with the giant crystal shifter. While it did take me a few days to get used to the shift switch, it’s not a terrible design overall.
Pulling the switch “back” while in drive engages the “sport” trans programming. I think once people spend a few weeks with it they will change their negative opinions. |

Love how so many people are complaining about a missing stick shifter….its called evolution. Back in the day when we only had manual shifters the stick made sense. A stick shifter for an automatic transmission is just a way to put it into gear and to appease those who want to go back to the good old manual days. I personally like the lack of stick shifter and think they are moving in the right direction. For those who feel that losing a stick for an automatic transmission car makes a any car less sporty, please refer to Ferrari, McLaren, or lamborghinis not as sports cars because they all lack a stick…

I’m really disappointed that BMW is making such heavy and complicated monsters for cars.
2.435 tons (5357 pounds) for a 5 series is just mind boggling. It’s only ~40pounds lighter than my 2022 X7! For a company supposedly concerned about performance and the environment it’s insane how much weight and materials they are jamming into their vehicles. Not to mention tire wear, wear on roads, impacts from accidents etc. I’m sure it’ll be fast but there’s no hiding that weight and complexity.

Also, for the record, everyone who is worried about performance for this using the hybrid powertrain from the XM label, You have nothing to worry about. This will be a proper sports sedan. Unless you have driven a car with this new powertrain, please wait for the actual reviews. I can tell you first hand, my XM label does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and handles otherworldly for a 6000+ pound vehicle.
