Fake vibrations (launch control and??)

So I know the M60’s have the fake vibration when using launch control, I’ve also noticed if your at 90 and go full throttle to say 110, the rear wheels do the same vibrating sensation, only seems to do it above 80 at full throttle, if you cruise say at 95 it’s smooth, step on the gas again and it’s the same as launch control vibrations. Is this their way of making you aware of your acceleration at higher speeds for safety or same gimmic as the launch control? Anyone else notice this?

I have only noticed the fake vibration during launch control, but I have not driven quickly and then went full throttle. Are the speeds you are referring to in km/hour or mi/hour? Or, are your numbers to indicate the % of power shown in the instrument cluster?

I haven’t tried launch control. Do you first hold down the brake, then the accelerator, and then let off the brake?

That is correct, but also hit the Boost paddle before you let off the brake to get the maximum power/torque. I think a lot of folks also put it in Sport mode first, but my understanding is that pulling the Boost paddle puts the car in Sport mode anyway, but only during the 10 seconds of Boost, then it goes back to whatever mode you were in before you pulled the Boost paddle.

Lastly, don't forget to hang on! Especially in your M60! You might also want to rest your head against the headrest before you let off the brake too. You may also want to make sure your traction control is on too (in case you turned it off previously for some reason).

Thanks, I just need to find a suitable spot. I love the driving around me with lots of hills and curves. Most of the highways have roundabouts, not signals.

Yeah - I’ve not tried that out yet for the same reasons.

I’ve not heard the OP’s vibration issue before - a little hard for me to test on my roads here, but it’s not been picked up in any of the online reviews I’ve seen.

I’ve just noticed above 80mph if you full throttle it in any mode it gives the sensation same as the launch control vibration until you let off. Meaning you could set cruise control at say 95mph it’s very smooth, or if you partial speed up from 80-95 it’s smooth, but if you floor it from 80 to 95mph it seems to do that fake vibration feeling. I figured it was BMW’s way of letting you know your flooring a 600hp electric car above 80

You can just sit at a red light and press gas all the way down with brake all the way down and it vibrates lol . Some people call it a gimmic, I find it pretty cool. Let’s you know your about to shoot off the line

I’ve definitely had mine above 80 and think I’ve been accelerating full throttle through 80 before without experiencing that. What I’ve not done is try to mash the throttle at 85 or so, normally it doesn’t take full throttle to get past others ;-)

Yes, I have been well above 80 without vibration and I have definitely floored it to merge. I definitely need to try the launch control thing.

It’s like clockwork, above 80mph, just take note with sounds off, mash it at 85 to 95 (don’t sue me if you get a ticket lol) but it’s the same rear rumble you get with LC. It’s not a wheel balance issue, again you can smoothly accelerate from 80-90 with zero (rear wheel rumble) but if you floor it, it’s feed back is almost like the LC fake rumble/ shaking, or 50% of that. Did 2000 miles on highway with perfect balanced wheels (2,242 miles on the clock).

This will likely never be an issue I run into. I can't remember the last time I drove any street car over 85 mph (I don't think I ever have). LOL. I don't even usually break the 80 mph mark. I guess I'm just not a fast driver. Good luck, and please stay safe out there for everyone's sake.
