My first ticket :[

So.. here's what happened.

Last night, i was driving around, listening to some music, when i got a call from my friends. They were all at a party that i didn't wanna go to, and it ended up getting rolled. The three of them were drunk, and i offered to give them a ride up the street to their house.

I have to drive through a dirt road to get to them. I pick them up and we drive to the edge of the dirt. I didn't see any signs or any road lines, so i thought it was okay to make a left turn onto the main road.

As i turn left, a Motorcycle Cop pulls me over.

I'm 16, driving three drunk kids in my car. its past curfew, and i forgot my new registration card and sticker at home.

I end up getting Three citations.
1. Disobeying Traffic Laws.
2. Driving others with a Provisional License.
3. Driving Without Registration.

I told the officer that i didn't see any signs or any lines in the dirt, and that i was only doing my friends a favor.

My court date is October 10th.

I Plan on begging the judge for traffic school, and pushing the fact that i wanted to do my drunk friends a favor and get them home safely. Also pushing the fact that the road was all dirt and there were no lines.

Anyone got any tips on this matter?

Also, Feel free to laugh XD

sounds like you f'd up, tbh. im guessing your friends are around your age as well. if thats the case, then i wouldve just said 'go pass out on a couch or call your mom'. theres no way in hell i would drive 3 drunk minors, after curfew, with a provisional. i remember when i was 16 i would stress so bad whenever i was somewhere after curfew, let alone driving someone else or being around illicit activities

edit: im not trying to sound like a dick, i give you props for trying to help

Well driving others with a provisional license probably wont be dropped but the other two you have a possibility of getting out of. Good luck!

I got my first ticket being clocked by aircraft doing 114 in a 70mph. I was about 18yrs old back then. Very, very stupid. Hope everything works out okay with court. Good Luck!

What are the CVC sections you were charged under? You can find those on your ticket.

Edit: also was it CHP?

no way! lol i never believed the signs that are out on highways. did you actually see the chopper?

from my experience, im pretty sure if its your first ticket the judge will be easy on you and make sure you learn your lesson, about the dirt road if you really think you didnt do any illegal turn or what ever the cop wrote go and take pictures and explain it to the judge. now about the provisional liscence it can go many ways so all you can do is hope for the best.1) he can either just let it go(since you were helping your friends) which i highly doubt, 2) he can push back the date for you to be able to carry passengers, 3) suspend your liscence for a few months, or worst revoke your liscence and make you do everything all over again. and i also recommend getting a lawyer and from personal experience try to get a reputable one and try not to be to cheap when it comes to this. the saying "you get what you payed for" really comes into play with them. well just enjoy life dont stress it too much just take it as a lesson learned, i hope this helped some way, and hey its not the end of the world, right?

do you get locked up drinking as a minor? Did the cop let you drive them home or did he put your friends in a patrol car that he should have called?

The cop let me drive my drunk friends home. but even at that he said and i quote "If i see you driving after you drop the off, i'm going to impound your car"

Which was weird because i wasn't drinking.

No it was an Escondido Motorcycle Cop, and i think im gonna go take pics of the road tomorrow haha

Get a lawyer and make your friends pay for it and remind them how they would have gone to jail if not for you.

The roads should be marked as well. Look for fat stripes of paint spaced in quarter mile sections over a 1-2 mile areas.

Ohio uses small 4 seater cessnas and has around 5 of them. Their held to strict rules of when they can fly due to visibility, wind speed, weather conditions and such.

Gotta love Florida. I haven't fallen victim to it, but some friends have been caught by aircraft. Have to watch out for the white lines across the road.

Depending on the plea bargain you strike with the prosecutor and how nice the judge is, they might let you off because you were kinda doing a responsible thing (it depends on how they weigh the irresponsibility of driving after curfew with too many people vs the responsibility of not letting them drive). Whatever you get, I don't think you'll get points for it because if you strike down the disobeying traffic laws, you don't have moving violations, so no points, just a fine = make your drunk-ass friends pay for it, they owe you.

Consider yourself lucky, those are all minor offenses.

My first ticket, I was on provisional after curfew doing 120 in 65 with a drunk girl in passenger seat performing fellatio and while the cop was handing me the multiple counts of misdemeanor reckless driving, endangerment, speeding, provisional with passenger, and modified exhaust ticket, she puked in my center console. At least he didn't tow my car.
My ticket was 2 grand all together and license suspended for a year.

First you want to plea not guilty and see if the cop shows up in trial (I actually don't know for sure if this works in Juvy court)
When I got my ticket, I had to go into a room and talk to a judge in his office.

when you talk to a judge, try the following.

1. Disobeying Traffic Laws.
-take some pic of the location both in daytime and nighttime to show how impossible it is to see the markings under dirt and night
2. Driving others with a Provisional License.
-you are pretty much fucked for this, there is solid evidence and you just can't get out of it. You can plea to say you were trying to help your drunk friends, and if the judge is cool, he might buy it, most likely tho, he will throw the book at you and tell you you should've called their parents to pick them up or you should've been the "righteous citizen" and called the police to report underage drinking. fucked up. yes I know.
3. Driving Without Registration.
-well since you really do have it so it shouldn't be that much problem, just tell the judge you forgot it at home and show him.

ps if you can afford a bimmer at 16, im pretty sure you can spare the extra couple hundred to hire an attorney, its worth it in your case imho because they can yank your license just like that when you are provisional. basically you have no rights.

Maybe you, the officer, and Obama should settle it over a beer at the White House.

Well, I hope your friends are thankful, I would have done the same thing. If you mention that your friends were drunk and you were providing them a ride home solely for that reason and you were not out except for that hopefully a judge will let you off.
