So I am going to prefix this with - please excuse the dust and the overall crappy quality of that picture. Its neither easy nor safe to take pics while driving

In any case, figured will share, two people onboard, car in sport mode, AC blasting and ventilated seats on - 35.2mpg

I've taken 10 trips of 150 miles. I've gotten 38.5 - 40.1 mpg in Economy mode on the interstate.

That’s amazing - my old N52 3.0NA in my 328 would get me 25mpg if I nailed my highway cruising speed, but normally 23-24mpg with just 228bhp. Impressive progress!

I haven't reset the trip computer since I got the car. I have driven 6400 miles and my overall mpg is 32.2. This includes an equal amount of true city driving and highway. I'm absolutely amazed by this efficiency. My outgoing G30 540 was giving me 25.5 mpg. The fact that the G60 is about 400 lbs heavier with an engine that's rated (conservatively) at 375hp vs. 335 hp for the G30 is nothing short of amazing.

These great numbers are due to the hybrid system in the cars right? I assume the old models you are referring to did not have a hybrid system?

The G30 had a mild hybrid setup since 2021 and I don't think that changed its fuel economy much if at all. Mild hybrid systems rarely contribute to fuel economy, the main reason for the improvements is because the B58 Gen 3 in the G60 has cylinder deactivation.

G30 averaged 26 mpg. G60 after 4500 miles is 28 mpg. Exactly the same city highway blend.

That's really impressive. What an amazing engine. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of mileage I can get.

Looks like 540 is getting similar numbers to the 530.

Not entirely sure, but 540 might have an ISG mild hybrid system instead of the BSG on the 530. It's hard to get information on this right now, but that could be a factor.

Here's a plot twist...

Both my prior G30s (pre and post LCI) also had excellent fuel economy. This is highway driving in sport mode. No idea if that mild-hybrid has something to do with it so wont speculate.

One of the last pics from my old G30, before G60 arrived. 35.5mpg looks soooo photogenic, I just couldn't resist then:

I get 35.3 mpg in my 3,432# 240 at 72 mph. As the kids would say (from back in the day) "We be livin' large!"

The tank in the G60 is smaller than the G30….I believe it’s 15.9 gal vs 18. Given that, how many gallons does it take to fill typically, from remaining range of about 75-100 miles? It’s something less than 15.9, maybe closer to 14? This would make the highway range somewhere ~490 miles max. I can get 525+ in my G30 so just curious, not nitpicking. I only use that range 2x per year and 30 miles won’t make much difference on a long trip like that.

I don't know how big the tank is in g60 but I am getting more than 500 miles when I fill up. I think last time it was 520, that figure obviously depends on driving style. Basically, if you drive like a maniac then fill up you'll get a lower figure, you drive normal and idrive will show you higher mpg next time you fill-up. It's not a static figure.

One thing is certain, it doesn't feel like I am visiting gas stations more frequently than I was in my prior two 540 G30s.

The extract volume of that tank is prolly something that can be Googled. I bet that's denoted on some kinda spec sheet. Maybe bmw website or g60 manual?

From the stats I’ve read the G60 tank is 15.9 gallons (or 60.2 liters).

I’m really impressed at the fuel economy people are able to get with it.

From the Car & Driver review, they averaged 37mpg @75 mph, which definitely seems to align with what you’re all reporting.

Can’t wait to see how I’ll fair.

Thanks. So when you fill up your G60, approximately how many gallons does it usually take?

With a total capacity of 15.9 gallons, which is the same size as my Audi, I’d assume it would be 13.5 or so? If you ran it down to the low fuel warning. I’m not sure about BMWs, but Audi always overstates the amount in the tank, slightly.
