Another Tire Issue
It’s only been a month and it took weeks to get a left rear. Now it’s the right front. I don’t even hit potholes. This is ridiculous. Maybe I should just buy Michelins.

After purchasing my M550 I ran into this problem constantly. I had 20 inch Potenza S007 non run flats as stadard equipment. They were exceptionally prone to road imperfections. I had destroyed both front tires more than twice, a rear tire and bent two rims. I switched to Continental Extreme Contact DWS. They are an all season tire. Softer, better tread and properly performance rated. They made a very big difference. I still have to be careful to avoid imperfections.

I switched to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4’s and they are a million times better. I don’t have to fear hitting the smallest of imperfections on the road anymore and they are better wearing tires.

That’s a bummer - any ideas what the cause is? Did you pick up a nail or a screw or was this a pothole?

Didn’t hit a curb or drive over anything. Last tire, it was a sidewall puncture where the tread meets. No idea how that happens. I will just take it to Discount Tire and have them look at it. |

Don’t you have tire insurance whether through the dealer or Discount Tire (assuming you got them there)?
I wonder if the weight has something to do with this?

I suspect the issue was the lower profile tires. The M5 I think had 35 all around….if I remember correct the M550i had 35 in front and 30 in rear?

I’m going to Discount Tire this week. Since it’s already cold, I might order a set of Michelin Cross Climate if the tire is not repairable again. |

My M5 has
Fr: 265/35ZR20 (99Y) XL Rr: 295/30ZR20 (101Y) XL Michelins PS4s summer all year, many sets, never any weirdness, just a nail or two and normal wear for me in this RWD car. Remember the 35 and 30 in these tires I mention is just aspect ratio, percentage really of the tread width (the first number). Hence the front and rear tires have almost the same profile if you do the math. |

I just ordered Nokian Hakkapelitta R5. I was impressed with Kyle Conner’s review. I’ve always run separate winter and summer tires. Don’t know why I chose all seasons. I will probably keep the Pirellis for summer if the tire is repairable. It will be hard to sell the odd size.

No doubt. Those tires were inappropriate for that car. The 20 inch tires on the 2025 550e have increased to 40 in front and 35 in rear.
