No worries. I did it once from speed typing. Someone posted what I just did and haven't xt'ed it since.

My spidey senses predict she's going to "want it louder" and he's going exhaust hunting. I mean c'mon, she drives a stick.

Thanks for the head's-up.

No flogging. Documents signed and payment sent via FedEx.

My wife's scheduled to do a "Fly and Drive" on 18 April. She'll fly out and spend the night in CLE (she can fly for free and get a hotel on points), the dealer will pick her up in the morning, she'll pick up her new toy and then make the drive to Denver. It's a 20 hour drive, so she'll be home on Sunday. I'm working, so unless I can trade a trip, she'll be solo. Outside chance that I might be able to fly out and meet her somewhere along the way Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning-- it'll depend on the route she takes.

The car is going to the local Porsche dealer to get any open items taken care of (there's a fuel-tank diagnostic bulletin I think and a few other small things), get a new second key programmed, and get all services done (oil, fluids, etc.). This is all included in the purchase price.

I'm also having it PPF'd and ceramic coated as well as a circuit board installed in the comm box that will allow wireless CarPlay (so the Minister will be able to use Apple Music, Spotify, Waze, etc.) to be integrated with the OEM electronics. I'm also going to have a powered MagSafe mount and rear-view camera installed at the same time.

It wasn't cheap, but it's probably about the best looking Boxster S out there. It's a solid 9-9.5/10 when compared to new. It ticked all of the boxes and as far as the Minister is concerned, this is her "forever" car.

I bought her mudguards (the same ones that are on my M2C) and rubber floor mats today. Going to order LED interior lights and exterior ones to replace the bright orange turn signals-- yuck.

She wants a cupholder in the car, but I told her to wait until it gets here, and then we can look at what's available.

The Minister fell in love with this one-- she's always had a warm spot for Boxster's.

And? It's a Toy, not a Daily, so living with is easy.

Absolutely not.

If I didn't spend any money on the M2C's exhaust, I'm sure as hell not dropping a dime on the Boxster's!

A (double?) cup holder is available right above the glove box, just push that coloured lid:

The only problem (and I didn't realize this until the Minister mentioned it) is that when we open up the garage and the neighbors see my orange M2C parked next to a blue Boxster, they're going to think that we're *huge* Bronco's fans!

Truth be told, there is one other slight problem: Between the work at the dealership, the PPF/ceramic work, and the electronics work to update the car to work with modern tech, the car won't be ready for pickup until the minister flys out to pick it up and drive back on 18 April......

..... and I'm not sure I'm going to survive the Minister's bouncing off of the walls until then!

She's having (clutch leg) knee surgery the week after the drive back, so she's chomping at the bit to get the car home since she'll be restricted from using a MT for 4-6 weeks after surgery.

Sounds like the car needs regular exercise while the Mrs. is recuperating from surgery. Disuse is not good for a car...

A good dozen tankfuls ought to do it.

You've done really well FBJ, it's a lovely spec, really is and you know i'd freely tell you otherwise. All that work you said is included in the selling price is really good value, I don't think you overpaid at all.

981 was the right choice, 987 really is a more raw experience, this car is perfect. Oh forgot to mention, these engines do make a lot of odd noises, they sorta rattle and when cooling make pinging noises, all par for the course don't worry.

Are you getting a paint correct before the ppf? Personal choice but all I would change on that car are the wheels.

Paint has already been corrected, so no worries there.

As for wheels? Nope-- she's very happy with the stock ones. We looked at the grey/silver car on offer on the same website, but avoided it *specifically* because it had upgraded Porsche 20" wheels-- that's not a great idea here in CO. The shop that works on my M2C call them "dented rims wrapped in rubber bands" and they're not wrong-- you're just *waiting* to get a bent rim driving around here on 20's.

No definitely would not go larger on the wheels! I am partial to the traditional BBS type style on these cars but that is personal preference.

Not to be too invasive, but what type of knee surgery is Mrs. having? I ask only to state I had total knee replacement on my left leg over a decade ago and my doctor said by all means drive my MT E90 as soon as possible. He said it was excellent physical therapy after knee replacement surgery. I was driving 165 miles a day back then, so lots of shifting.

If she had orthoscopic to just repair tissue damage, then I can see staying off a clutch for a few weeks. Good luck with her recovery!

So true. Flat 6 Porsches do not have a very good sound when idling or not under heavy load or below 4000rpms. They are very mechanical, rattily, chanky, etc. Largely because the cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds only sit a few inches off the pavement and create all sorts of racket. With mid-engine Porsches, you also hear the accessories whirling away has they are just a few inches behind you. With the 6MT cars, when shifting into a gear when at a stop, you can clearly hear the shifter rods working the pivot lever on the transmission which emits a very mechanical snick/clunk. Then when you get on it in the proper gear and 4000rpms+, it totally turns into race car mode. The engine rips, wails, and the induction sound is intoxicating. I removed the intake silencer of my 987.2 and it sounds so much better.

I wouldn't change any of this. When driving normal, it's pretty docile and the sounds aren't overwhelming. I drove my 987.2 Cayman 700 miles home from the dealer. It's a great highway cruiser and back road bruiser. The 981 is even better. The 987/997 cars are the last old school Porsches made. The 981 is way more refined.

That's the beauty right, I can load up the wife and kids aged between 6 and 13 since I have owned the car (Mr 13 is done I think as he is growing at a clip), load up a picnic basket in the frunk, cruise down the highway at 120KMH no problem with minimal fuss then turn off and absolutely hammer through back roads with the top down and the car wailing away then pull in for a hike and a picnic.
