My New 540ix

Was able to take delivery yesterday evening. After a day with it I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Instant torque and precise steering.

Plan to keep this for 3 years or so then get the M5 at that time if able.

Gorgeous. Can't wait for mine to arrive. Right now sitting in the port waiting for a ship. Hope to have it by the end of February. Enjoy!

Can’t wait to see yours! Such a unique feeling from tracking a car online everyday for nearly 3 months then it actually arriving.

Glad I went with this over the W214.

I also considered the W214. Actually put an order in but the more I looked into it, the more I was convinced that the G60 540xi was the way to go. That and the fact that M-B doesn't even have the batteries to manufacture the W214 so that delivery probably won't be until the late summer. Canceled that order, got my deposit back and now happily awaiting the arrival of my 540xi.

How long did your car have to wait in port before it got on a ship?

I think it was at the port for a good 2-2.5 weeks in Germany. That was the longest part of the whole process.

The all-black look is certainly something to behold. Congratulations on your new car and thanks for the pictures.

It looks like Veganza to me (vegan leather). The real Merino leather usually has double stitching at the end of the center console near the button that open up the center console storage space and the Veganza does NOT have any stitching there. But to be sure, you'll have to wait for RJH52 to reply.

You’re correct! Honestly I can’t tell a difference between the two. I was told the Veganza is more durable so hopefully that holds true.

I took the same seats.
Unfortunately we don't have the 540i.

I sold my iX for another iX...just to get Amido leather. I now have black Veganza in my i5 and it is as soft and buttery as leather!

Shocking that BMW uses SensaTec in the i4 and iX, and then the X5 and X7 get SensaFin (very nice) and the i5 and i7 get Veganza! SensaTec is very durable and easy to live with, but it is rough, hard and looks like vinyl!!!

Is there a difference between SensaFin and Veganza? They both feel and look so much like smooth Merino leather!

Months back we drove an X7 and I commented to the sales person how nice the leather was...so soft, smooth and buttery. He agreed. When we got back to the dealer, we both found out the interior was SensaFin

I’m looking forward to getting your impression of the g60 vs the w213 and w214. I had a g30 530 and the build quality and refinement was excellent. I switched to a 2022 e450 and while the interior design is nice, lot of the materials and build quality feel cheap. I also notice a lot of road nose even though I have acoustic comfort package. My 2017 530 was a lot quieter.

Overall I’m not impressed with the w213. It’s not bad if you’ve never driven a bmw before, but in comparison it feels cheap. The w214 looks like they tried to address a lot of the areas where I have issues with the w213, so maybe it will be a lot better.

I went to BMW last weekend and sat in the g60 i5 and was immediately impressed by how much more expensive and better built it feels than my w213. I didn’t drive it so I’m not sure how the road manners compare, but initial impression of the g60 was that despite some of the cheap interior materials vs the g30, overall it felt like a much more expensive car than both the w213 and g30. I’m waiting for the dealer to get some 540i in so I can test drive it

Congrats on a great looking car! I ordered a 540 as well, even without a test drive. Its just the same B58 like myM340i , so didn't feel like waiting for 540i to appear in stock for a test drive

I did the exact same thing. Hard to go wrong with the B58 and BMW's superior reliability.
