I know this can vary but I was wondering what those of you who have received your cars already have experienced.

After what seemed like an interminable wait in "production begins" status for over a month, once production actually did begin the car literally flew through production and was actually finished two days early. So far so good then. Now just trying to get an idea when the car may be make it over the pond and out to the dealership.

Mine was shipped to Baltimore but I would assume it would be similar to NYC.

Mine sat at the port in Germany for about 20 days. Then took close to a week to arrive in Baltimore. Then at the port it took 6 days to get on a truck to Ohio. Should arrive at the dealer today. Planning to run down and see it,if it arrives in time. I am scheduled to take delivery Saturday afternoon.

Seems like you should have yours be end of February.

Wow, only one week from port in Germany to the east coast? That's fast. I was figuring the trip across the Atlantic might be two weeks. That's very encouraging.

Mine is sitting at the NY/NJ port right now. It left Germany on 1/11, made 2 stops, and then NY/NJ port on 1/19 so 8 days. I'm wondering how long it will be from domestic port to dealer now...

The Genius line is so frustrating. They seem to have been instructed to provide wildly inflated timelines to customers probably to avoid any criticism that "but I was promised - - - - and now it's longer." So when I asked about timelines now that the car's at the port I was told that it would likely take four weeks to get on a vessel, another four weeks to get across the Atlantic to the port in NJ and another two weeks to get through the VPC and out to the dealership.

These numbers don't square up with anything I've read or seen on the subject which suggest estimates of approx. 50% of those quoted. It would really be nice if BMW allowed their folks to give more realistic timeline estimates just cautioning that as all such things, estimates are just that and cannot be assured.

Mine took about 3 days to reach the port once leaving the factory and then spent 2 weeks waiting for a ship. The ship trip took about two weeks mostly because the ship stopped in Belgium on the way and seemed to leave Belgium several days behind schedule. Once you leave the port you can find out the ship name from the Genius line and track its progress through online marine sites (I used Marine Traffic).

I spent about 2 weeks in Bremerhaven waiting for a ship. I went to shipping sites and found every ship that was leaving Bremerhaven for my port. The ship sites are very accurate with their arrival dates. There was a ship that left before mine, but had additional stops, so mine got in before that one.

My Genius and garage did not update to in transit from Germany until it was already 7 days at sea. Just a heads up that if it departs on a Friday or weekend day it takes a few days to show as underway. Add to that the end of year festivities and I was pleasantly surprised when I did learn it was headed to its new home.

MyBMW still says in transit however I sat in it yesterday

My SA called me yesterday evening and said car is on the way from port. It changed to In Transit this morning. I'm hoping to pick it up Saturday

I just saw that the open recall on my car changed from Open to Closed today, but car isn't in transit yet. Has been at the port in Baltimore for 8 days.

Same was with me. Changed from open to closed then hit the road the next day to the dealership.

Car arrived at dealer yesterday, pick up was scheduled for Sat. Just got a call from SA for a Stop Sale, battery coolant valve. Unknown timeframe at this point...

Sure enough mine now has a new code: 0064230200 With a status of Open

Dealer has a waiver to sign stating I would bring in the car for the fix later. Picked her up!

Which model are you getting?

It’s an i5 m60. Still at the port in Baltimore so I don’t know if they’ll send it to the dealer before fixing it.

Hope they do - I live in the south and the problem seems to be with longer term low temps and we don’t get a lot of that.
