Any news about the timing of Touring variants (EV & ICE) - will we finally get an i5 Touring?

Agreed. I can't unsee a stretched out, bloated 2 series gran coupe for the exterior. The interior is spot on.

Indeed. Most comments are pointing out the same! The exterior is a no go.

Yeah, the Brooklyn Grey definitely makes it look flatter and more boring. The red shows off the crease line better but in the F10/G30, that crease sat closer to the rear wheel so it accentuated the fender flare more I guess.

Right, I get that. The more upright front and gloss black lower trim just makes it look visually taller rather than more sleek, wide, and low. But again these are based on the pics...I think it'll have more presence in person.

This car is another preponderous visual. Not for me. It’s crazy that bmw and Mercedes have such outlandish designs while new entrants look much more classic. Thinking about Tesla, Rivian, and to some extent Lucid. The model S looks gorgeous next to an EQS or this new 5. We’ve owned three 5-series generations, so I’m somewhat allowed to say this, I suppose.

At that point they have just defaced the angel eyes and are just going like audi or huyndai : "It's shapes !"

Why is BMW continuing to add that black glossy plastic outside ? It looks cheap and turn purple within a few years of ownership.

I'll go take a drive in manual M5 to forget about seeing this.

The i4 still rides like a luxury car (its heavy) and is smooth and quiet. The effortless acceleration also makes it a joy to drive. It drives much lighter than it actually is, and that's coming from a i3 BEV previously. I don't need the rear seat room, so the i4 is perfect. But the deal breaker for me compared to a normal sedan is that I find the i4's hatchback opening to be a priceless feature.

With F10 and G30, the cabin had this set-back look with a long and flat hood. You can see it in the hood profile on the G30, where the hood is almost flat by the time it reaches the windshield. On the G60, the hood is fairly angled all the way up to the windshield cowling, giving that FWD look.

I get that some of it has to do with pedestrian crash safety - I thought the 8 series always suffered from this with an upright front compared to the Fxx 6 series which had a really wide and low profile. The wide fenders and side crease/shoulder line on the Fxx and early Gxx cars added to that muscular look, even on the non-Ms.

While some automakers like Volvo, Acura, Mazda, and even Honda are styling their FWD cars to look more like RWD cars, looks like BMW is doing the opposite here. While the G60 is wider and longer than than the F10/G30, it doesn't really look it...

The interior, on the other hand, is a clear step up. Love the new steering wheel
This is my exact takeaway. The interior is a step up but the exterior is going in the opposite direction of athletic design language. The sport sedans in this segment all have a flattened aggressive look, like the panamera, model S, lucid, even the Acura. I’m not sure why BMW decided with a taller less aggressive stance. Maybe the M5 will somehow fix the issue with lowering and more aggressive front and rear fenders or maybe seeing it in person may change my opinion.

Looks nice all around. BUT... that has to be one of the most generic & vague rear ends I've seen in a really long time.

Tesla model S Plaid is so far ahead of the big OEM's in the EV game. Faster than anything you will run into and it looks nice.

I’m sorry but this looks awful. They absolutely butchered this car compared to the G30.

A blacked out plastic ass with winglets. Groundbreaking BMW! You must really pat yourselves on the back for this one. It really shows how hard your design team is working...

Looks like crap. That terrible afterthought LG screen, no analog buttons, no shifter, no cockpit design. BMW is not what used to be. The exterior is bland and inexpessive. And the black plastic in the front and rear are the cherish on this cheap cake. The digital interface of the dash is also kindergarden friendly. Nice taxi-wise Camry.

Yeah. Many of the BMW fanboys hated that back when the F8x was new.

I remember all the comments about how universally awful it was compared to the E9x cars.

Having a larger screen to display more information at a glance is such a horrible thing I guess.

CarPlay looks great on it but don’t let me get in the way of your old man yells at cloud moment.

That doesn’t mean that you can not be different and at least retain the sporty feeling and implement a nice shifter. Cheap.
